There is a school of thought that says leave the paint alone for a coupla weeks to let the solvents within the paint evaporate first before you start protecting the paint.

wash and wax every week...

once a month.. do this:

wash car

claybar car

polish car

use sealant

top off with wax

So many things arh. Currently in my detailing box is only a car shampoo, Autoglms polish, tire shine and my clothsssss.

Went down to autobac, saw a clay thingy. But the description is in jap(wad makes them think that we know jap????) Anyway, the clay is hard, will it scratch our car instead? Wad if there is a substance in it which is not fully soften during the manufacturing precess? Nobody in Autobac can answer me. This is one of the reason I din buy the clay thingy.

Bro, care to share ur polish brand stuffs?

Do u do it manually or using machine?

I just got my car spray to white n i'm worried it might turn yellowish soon..

U r very daring, spray to white. B4 I sent it for respray, I was thinking of changing color to white. One thing about white; bumper ganna kiss and off alignment it will be very obvious. Another thing about it is the turn yellow thingy. Saw a couple of white Euro Rs on the process to yellow. Could it be the quality of the paint used by the paintshop? I think all colors have their pros and cons.

Moreover mine is an old car. Bumper have little bit off alignment. I told the paintshop to do it swee swee for me. Shall collect my car next wednesday.

Regardless rain or shine

wa seh...which area u staying?

My area is very different from u if u not in far west side. In fact my place is only 3 mins away from Tuas. So the air and rain here is very toxic. Everytime after rain and if I din wipe them dry(which usually I dun) a layer of dust is formed. So if I wash regardless of rain my effort would be down the drain. So my practice is; send to the nearest snow wash the next day laugh.gif

Claybar is soft soft wan, it will remove tough tars on the car esp the lower part of your bumper.

Make the claybar like a parta, yes Roti Parta. No need to be circle, just flat. the put on your 4 fingers and clean like how your

girlfriend/wife/mum/womanssssssss wipe their face to remove make up. If unsure, ask MadDriver to show how on his MDDS how to clean his face. laugh.gif Haha. Kidding, My face worse nowadays, still anything laught people.....how to clean using Claybar. tongue.gif

MadDriver have some claybar in his boot, those at AutoBac is sweatdrop.gifsweatdrop.gifsweatdrop.gif. I using my AutBac Claybar now to clean rims. cool.gif Experts here in MCF say old claybar use to clean rims will be sunny.gifsunny.gif. It's true, I am a LIVE result.

Since your car already send for respray, just hope the white paint will be swee swee, super swee swee. scholar.gifnod.gifPosted ImagePosted Image

Tommorrow, 11/2/20007, MadDriver hosting his MDDS again at AMK/Bishan, since your ride is in paintshop, drop by if you can, MadDriver can clay his car again but for sure you see the claybar no differents because his car is 100% tar free. Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Becos i realise hairline scratches is nt tat obvious on white car.

Just b4 i sent in to change colour, i was on black ride n i can't stand to c the hairline scratches everytime i wash or wax my car.

Haahaa..

After i changed to white, den i realise is nt easy to maintain n i got to use extra effort to maintain. [shakehead]

Like the area i got to wipe it hard where our door rubbers is. [hur]

It will cause black stains/lines when u open or close door..

True enough, the bumper alignment r very impt.

Actually someone bang onto my back den i decided to change colour.

After repair, the bumper alignment is nt straight for 1 side but lucky my wrkshop spend abit more time to make it straight back.

Haha.. They actually can't avoid when i'm washing my car every 2 days, i'm those person who wan the best out of it.. [hur]

some brands of clay have different clay for dark colors and light colors. autobacs can help u with that. that's the only help u need from autobacs.

the rest of the info on how to claybar can be found on the resources folder.

dont worry, you'll be using the claybar in conjunction with shampoo.. so no scratching.. on the contrary, it gets out all the dirt you couldnt possibly get out with a sponge and shampoo!! have fun!!!

Wax - most of time refer to natural waxes. Or those that contain Carnauba content. Offers a warm, wet look.

Sealants - many types, also known as synthetic waxes. Name doesn't matter, wax and sealant serve same purpose, as a protective layer. Some ppl don't like the shine it gives, a bit like 'plastic' or 'sterile' kind of shine. Personal preference.

Most of the sealants 'bond' with the paint, whereas most of normal carnauba wax is just sacrificial layer.

You can put a layer of wax on top of sealants to get 'best of both worlds'

Cheers

thanx for answering on my behalf.. i couldnt have said it better!!! [thumbsup][thumbsup]

A weekly wash should be still alright. Rainy season has passed anyway [:p]

If you want to learn how to use the claybar, there are online resources but to learn it the faster and better way, come down for detailing meetup. Live demo lesson always better~

If you use it correctly, its a great way to get rid of contaminants [thumbsup]

some online info.. say claying will be removing wax n sealant.)dun remember which site)

Though remember some guru said only remove old wax...sealant should be still there.

SO.. which is correct....after claybaring(without AIO)..must apply sealant again??

My gut feel is the claying partially erode the layer as its made of polish suspended in clay..

Different clay different properties within it.. maybe one day someone will invent wax/sealant safe claybar [idea]

To date I only tried 1 claybar which is soft99 green one. Next is the Eraser..
