There are shops that sell "3pin plug to cigerate socket" adapter, so that you can charge using home power outlet. I bought mine from Perfect Watch for $12.

Thks!! Now i know there is such an adapter. Honestly, I freak out when i check that i don't have a cigarette ligheter socket. I just bought the GPS 10x frm Perfect Watch on mon. Hmm.. going back there is a bit of a hassle now. I'm really anxious to test the receiver on my PDA. If you know of any other place there has the adapter, do let me know.

Thks SGNICK! :)

I had checked out those shops mentioned in this forum and found that it is cheaper to buy online for the Nuvi 370 and 670.

I just ordered online for a Nuvi 370 from expansys at S$960 including shipping.

I've read thru this thread but still I have some questions.Hope someone can help.

The Nuvis and the StreetPilots have several models. Am I right to say that different model numbers come pre-loaded with different maps? Like Nuvi 123 is pre-loaded with map of region A while Nuvi 456 is pre-loaded with map of region B?

So we can buy a Nuvi without any preloaded map for much cheaper than a pre-loaded one?

We can buy maps separately? How expensive are these maps ( from Garmin) ? Any other free source( like malsing ) other than Garmin where we can download maps?

Are maps for Garmin compatible with other sat navs?

I foresee myself frequently travelling to Europe and North America in the near future. There are also dreams of driving to Thailand and Indo-china. WHich model under $1K should I get?

TIA for any advise.

From what I enquired so far, if u want the original Garmin maps, it is cheaper to buy the GPS with the map, rather than buy the GPS w/o maps now, then buy the maps seperately later.

No, I don't see any video out from the Nuvi GPS but you can use Garmin GVN 52 http://www.garmin.com/products/gvn52/.

However you need to use remote control to navigate, no touch screen funtion. Don't know whether it is availiable here

Thanks, have bought the Garmin GVN52 from Allbright at $690.

Have installed it myself and is learning to use the new toy now.

For your info, the set came with a remote cable to connect to the touch screen monitor, but sadly, my Necvox monitor is non-touch screen and unable to test it. The boss at Allbright said that it is for Panasonic touch screen LCD. He was so nice to print out the remote cable pins configuration (from a E-mail), which I could rewire to any touch screen in the future.

Hi, You can charge the Garmin Mobile 10x using a usb connector connected to the PC.

OT abit, anyone knows where to get a re-radiating antenna to boost the signal inside my car. You see, my car has V-Cool and this blocks a lot of the GPS signals such that I get very low satellite signal and also not as many satellites lock on.

If I put outside the car, the Satellite signals are very good and can get more satellites.

Anyone can tell me where to buy and how much?

tks.

This is the reason why I say SIRF III is necessary choice. It's super sensitive.

I'm always amazed that my SIRF III equipped Garmin does not lose signal in the CTE tunnel. Can tell me accurately to turn at the Havelock exit every time. Just mount it on my windscreen. That's it.

As for your question:
