Lamy Neutral Newbie February 3, 2007 Share February 3, 2007 Hi, question to you Gurus in here. Looking to create a detailed maintenance schedule for my superb. I am not looking at when to send to car for servicing but what needs to be looked at each service. I don't completely trust the "outside" workshops. I have heard diffrent things from different workshop when I enquired about my coming 60K service. Not so much that they add "extra" services that are not required but more afraid that they leave something out that will detrimental to car. Thanks Lamy ↡ Advertisement
Fortress Clutched February 5, 2007 Share February 5, 2007 Guess, you shoulkd trust your manual more, that is the basis of any maintenance. guess you are asking for best and cost effective servicing, then you have to compare the listing and job to be done by any workshop. "Outside" might be better than CA, least the one I am using, guess again it is the user doing his homework.

Lamy Neutral Newbie February 21, 2007 Author Share February 21, 2007 Hi Fortress, Thanks for your comments. I do trust the manual and the service schedule checklist. I guess I should have expressed I was looking for better. I was hoping to hear from other 1.8T owners on what to look out for as time goes on that is not in the manual. Like I had to replace the DV hose cause it had a tear. Or to check the coil packs earlier as there might be a problem with our model/year? Thanks again Lamy
Lamy Neutral Newbie February 21, 2007 Author Share February 21, 2007 Thanks for your post. Will be doing my 60K "outside" and post the cost for comparison. Seems that this list is longer than the manual's checklist. Will be using this list when 60K comes. Lamy
Fortress Clutched February 22, 2007 Share February 22, 2007 Glad to be of help. Not too sure about the 1.8T, what you are trying to find out about your car is a great start to what i am trying to say.Know your car and not be taken for a ride. Also, in my view, is helping yourself with simple things like looking at some points at the car weekly and making your dollar run further for you in some servicing without going for brand names, etc.... Lamy Neutral Newbie February 22, 2007 Author Share February 22, 2007 I agree, know your car to enjoy it more. That is why some of the things I do to the car, I do in bits at a time to experience what it does for the car. Enjoying the experience! After all, life is a journey not a destination. There lies the problem. Spb owners in sg are few and even fewer are like minded drivers. Trying things can be costly if doing it on your own and especially if it does not work out. Truth be said, I not all that comfortable with our reliance on workshops/mechanics. Thus the reason for my post. Doing homework is one thing, but when material is scarce.... The similarities between the passat & superb has to be discounted as the car dynamics & setup are different. Looking up british & us websites post a different set of issues. Driving conditions and styles differ greatly. Many start stops and quick pickups definitely affect how the car should be maintained. Especially a TC car. Sigh.. I worry too much. Lunar new year resolution. Live life, go with the flow, don't get undies in a bunch, make decisions with the info you have at that point, live with decisions w/o regret and lastly, have more faith in God and his plan for you. Lamy Hmmm, wonder why so reflective, onslaught of mid life crisis?
Fortress Clutched February 23, 2007 Share February 23, 2007 Wishing you a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year. No worries, you are doing find...in my honest opinion, most cars are the same, just need to pick up from others, here and overseas, analyse a little on the issue and you will able to sort that out. Can you imagine I drove/owned 2 off the same car/model and there were only 10 in Singapore, did the same way and managed it well.
Quirky_ster Clutched January 10, 2009 Share January 10, 2009 Hi all, I am new here but have been admiring Skoda for several years already. Yes.. it's wierd, but I know what it is and what it can do so no surprise that I eventually got one for myself now. first testdrove it when I wanted to replace my aging Opel Astra some 4 years ago to Octy A4 at that time but end up getting another opel Astra mainly due to the slightly steeper price of the Octy. Long story short, I will be collecting an OPC( Off Peak ) Skoda soon... which will be use as a family "spare" car. Since Skoda is new to me, can I know some of the outside workshop that are familiar with Skoda/VW cars that I can visit rather than the AD. AD is reserved just for the usual servicing to keep the warranty... ( 120K/4yrs is a long time )... I am also looking for Skoda tuners or tuners of VW or etc that can also do tuning for Skoda... remap is quite high in the list.. but cruise control will come first... so any help where I can install and get help for cruise control... Looking forward to all your post.. Thanks,

Quirky_ster Clutched January 11, 2009 Share January 11, 2009 re-map = 1.8T ? hi.. thanks you all for the warm welcome... wow.. this feels like at home like in SOOG ( Singapore Opel Owners Group ).... Okay as for which model... I went in to get the A4.. but after seeing the A5, kind of in 2 minds.... and of course drooling at the 2.0 TFSI A5. Actually, my dad wants a great driving car but the mum always wanted the Space.. space and space at the back that can carry the whole kitchen.. so the idea of EuroVan pops up. Thus I was looking at the Opel Combo.. but then figured the price of ~$40K with restricted speed and no to Malaysia kind of turn the whole idea off... Then came the A4/A5 with the large boot.. both parents are quite happy as it resembles the Opel Vectra 2.2GTS which we just sold it off recently... then again when my parents saw the Roomster, they are stuck with it.... if fits the needs of both.. a great drive with good driving position and a nice BIG space at the bag.. In a funny way, the quirky design of the car expresses their needs and requirements.. :)... Most importantly..... the AD looks sincere in giving me the "lelong" price without COE, so I go for it.. I am in no hurry to get it since this is basically going to be our spare to be used mainly at night and over the weekends... my best bet is to get as low COE as possible.. bidded $5001 for it and what a luck!... :) So there it is.. I will be parading the Roomster with 3 other Opel family cars (Astra G, Corsa D and Zafira B) all over Singapore and Malaysia really soon... As for Cruise control.. once you know how to use it right.. it's no turning back.... hope to see you guys soon..

Thanks again Lamy The most important thing that you have to check is to ensure that the condenser fan is not faulty. Coz the condenser fan is one of the higher failure rate. Already got two owners carputted exactly after 60k, Dust cover is also another items to look out. Other then that, guess nothing much liow.. maybe u can request that they scan your ecu infront of you and to give you the list of the reports. Becoz sometime for minor faulty they will try to clear the codes but you never know what is exactly happening.

Quirky_ster Clutched January 12, 2009 Share January 12, 2009 Wow! Our very first Roomster in the club guys! Gotta arrange for a meetup soon to molest the car Meetup ..okay sure.. but gotta be during the OPC hours... I guess it's the 1st Roomster that will be parading officially in Singapore!... excitement and nervous at the same time......... It's great that the new AD knows how to put the right value to the car... Maintenance wise, I was told the first servicing will be at 15K!... Hmm.. that's kind of ambitious.... will surely bleed it at 5K first... --> thread owner.. sorry to steal the thread.. no choice since I was not able to start a new thread <---

Can do it when reach 7.5k 'outside' and then go back to AD for the 15k. $30 for oil change (if you bring own oil & filter). For oil, the cr@plube is good enough to last 7.5k I'm amazed that the AD gives you 120k/4yrs warranty. Mine is like half of that ..... ↡ Advertisement
