yeah and when i criticized the safety and performance and viability of some lesser cars such as the chery qq, geely, picanto and kelisa, others called me a snob and claimed that even well made subaru wrx also can kill and crash.

hell, a bmw or volvo can kill and crash as well.

they dun seem to get it do they?

i for one would never put my life in these vehicles. at least a decent hyundai verna or kia cerato for me being the bare minimum.

now am i really a snob when i say that such cars are savings not worth it and money not well spent?

*grins*

[laugh] Before China cars came into SG market, look at how jap/conti owners say that Kia produced crap [laugh] Now taht China cars came in, all mudslinging seems to turn their target to china cars!

Geely = Cheap car = high car maintenance & servicing = Higher revisit rate to workshop. Afterall, Geely are so proud of their aftersale maintenance. They promised repair within 24hrs, optionally with free delivery to your doorstep after repair. They promised free car for use when the repair takes more than 24hr. They promise very very cheap spare parts.

LTA does not ensures the car's worthiness, it does not promises car owners that it will only break down after certain x number of years. LTA primarily will ensures that all car comes into SG must meet their regulations on road/vehicle safety.

LTA does has a system to ensure a car's "road" worthiness, not "car" worthinesstongue.gif.

For cars that require to go for inspection, this is part of it. However, how "good" or "bad" of the standard would leaves to one's commentwink.gif. Meeting LTA's regulation on road/ vehicle safety is the "worthiness" that we are talking aboutnod.gif.

Well said, but it is Singaporean common behaviour to compare, discriminate and belittle others. Disgracefulness I call it.

we are conditioned to name calling - trust our leaders to define black and white for us because we are too dumb to do so.

yah the issue is reliability. Even korean, malaysian cars people were complaining of cheapo look, rattling sound, power windows that never work, door handles came off, but when it comes to ferrying people A to B the engine works and they deliver, even the first generation imported ponys and wiras. That's the basic function of a budget car. But when even that can't be guaranteed.....[shakehead]

If these Chinese makes are UNRELIABLE, then I am sorry to say people will lose faith and not buy them. Only time will tell.

i think there's a difference between a budget car and a basic car. Meaning, if i buy a budget car, dun expect it not to break down or have poor quality. Some people are ok with this.....

if i get a basic car, it means i dun want any part to spoil, and every part must perform to what has been promised when i buy it..

After all these posts ..... was curious. I was standing at a traffic lights. Then spot on, a Geely drove up and stopped before me. As I was watching intently, I noticed that the car DIED on stopping. Then the driver cranked it (sounded sick ...the car, I mean .... [:p] ) and it caught after about 5 tries.

BTW it was not speeding, just normal speed.

Not sure whether it is an auto or manual but if it is an auto and on braking, engine can die ..........hmmmmm [shocked]

Seems that some forummers here are claiming (without any real proof or benchmark statistics) that china made cars are extremely fuel-efficient

So my guess it that it's a fuel saving feature with all china cars ... the moment the car stops, it switches off to save petrol. Way to go... [:|]
