Anyone knows if I need to change shocks if I lower my car?

And.... any suggested workshop that sells and installs the new springs?

Thanks [:)]

If you are just lowering your car, a set of lowering springs is sufficient without the need to change your shock absorbers. However, if you are looking for adjustments for comfort and toughness of your ride, you can consider changing to coilovers which are more expensive. I recommend you contact FK cos they have a series of springs and coilovers like Tein, BC and B&G etc which can meet your needs. [thumbsup]

Definitely yes... By lowering your ride through the springs and installing the shock absorbers to introduce more damping to your vehicle, you will be able to handle your car better especially when you drive over uneven roads and humps. This is because damping helps to reduce the vibration of your springs. In addition, lowering springs help to reduce the centre of gravity of your vehicle = more stability esp when cornering [;)]

Bro, it would be most ideal to change both the shocks as well as the springs together if $$$ is sufficient [:)]

However if $$$ not enough then go for the lowering springs 1st. Your shocks would maybe have a shorter lifespan of 70%~80% depending on how fast you cross the humps [:)] Do take note that alignment is require after installing the lowering springs for about a week later [nod] If camber is way too out will need to install camber kit [;)]

Man Exhaust, Jeep Chee, Fong Kim all have lowering springs available. [:)]

does using aftermarket springs like the Eibach, and using OE shock absorbers really improve the handling of the car?

Yes Bro [nod][nod][nod]

I'm on Eibach & Blistein shocks [:)] Handling definately improved tremendously [thumbsup] but must be able to tahan the harsher ride [:p]

There was this post by a forumer, which depicts a real life video explanation that lower ur ride.. one might not really make it in the case of a frontal accident... even same ride, but difference in height.. the one with the lower height will get caved in.. [sweatdrop]

then why lower ur ride.... not worth it... go search previous posts

Bro, spring can tahan many many more years even when you scrape your ride at the 10th year [nod][nod][nod]

The shock aka Kan Tong will need replacement depending on how you drive i.e fast cheonging through humps & uneven road ... etc [:)] Some less than 40,000km while others 60,000km ... etc [;)]

that's the conventional wisdom.

however, my friend had a strange experience. his lowering spring gave way before his sports shocks [shocked][dizzy]. i ask him, sure or not (where got spring spoil before shock)? he replied that he change back to stock spring and it was fine.

so i guess springs do have a lifespan, and if u get a set of lemon springs they give out pretty quickly in fact.

i'm thinking of changing to eibach/apexi lowering spring.. still thinking [laugh]
