Garlic 1st Gear January 21, 2007 Share January 21, 2007 (edited) Hi guys, Weather was extremely good today and I finally had the chance to test the following products, 1) FS Pure Acrylic Crystaline High Gloss Sealant More info @ http://www.chemicalguys.com/Car_Wax_and_Ca...s_p/wac_115.htm 2) gel-EXTENDED LIFE NEW LOOK TRIM & TIRE GEL More info @ http://www.chemicalguys.com/Trim_Shine_p/tvd_108_16.htm As the paint condition was still good, I skipped polishing after claying. From past experiences, SmartWax contains cleaners which are able to remove slight blemishes and prep the surface nicely, below were the steps taken: 1) Wash with NXT shampoo 2) Clay and dry 3) Wipe down with QD 3) SmartWax with polishing pad on DA @ speed 5 4) Chemical Guys FS Pure Acrylic Crystaline High Gloss Sealant with MF application using hand 5) Chemical Guys gel-EXTENDED LIFE NEW LOOK TRIM & TIRE GEL on exterior trim and tyres with foam applicator Chemical Guys FS Pure Acrylic Crystaline High Gloss Sealant This product has a green appearance coupled with a pleasant mint scent, it came in a nice handy squeeze bottle to prevent spillage. The MF applicator was first misted with QD and application was a breeze, the product spreads relatively easy and dries with a nice clear haze. The product was then left to cure for an hour before buffing, removing this sealant is almost effortless and I'm able to move from panel to panel in double quick time. There is no dusting or streaking, even when thick coats are applied, I also purposely applied onto the window trim and experienced no staining. This sealant leaves behind a nice wet slick surface with decent depth which is more to that of a carnauba, will update on its durability as time passes, it will be a real test as the car is parked outdoors and exposed to the elements 24/7. gel-EXTENDED LIFE NEW LOOK TRIM & TIRE GEL This product is a clear gel with no scent, viscosity is slightly thick and it came in a pump bottle for easy application. Application is pretty straight forward with a foam applicator, cleaning power is pretty decent as it managed to remove white stains caused by Meguiar's gold class trim detailer. Although vicious, its easy to apply and spread, a little goes a long way and coupled with a fast buffing action will result in rich wet looking trim. There is no mess and what I particularly liked was that its dry once cured. It transforms weathered and stained trim into a rich glossy finish. Lastly, its easy to remove and does not streak when it contacts glass or paint. Will also update on its durability as time passes by. Meg's trim detailer was a disaster for me, pics @ http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/Aftermarke...hower_P1718555/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edited January 21, 2007 by Garlic ↡ Advertisement

Coltagious Neutral Newbie January 22, 2007 Share January 22, 2007 ooh, trims are back to black liao kekeke Btw bro, applying sealant over wax, not sure if there's gonna be any bonding issue. I do not have prob with the FS over glaze, but the smartwax is another stuff altogether. (no ill-meaning to smartwax, just addressing the issue at hand) cheers!! Garlic 1st Gear January 22, 2007 Author Share January 22, 2007 Yep, love it and gold class trim detailer will be downgraded for tyres and wheel arch trim only. Thanks for the reminder, though of its cleaning power but forgot its a carnauba blend. Anyway will be monitoring FS, today's a really hot day and its still looking/feeling good. I do notice it attracts less dust as compared to other products.
Garlic 1st Gear January 24, 2007 Author Share January 24, 2007 After baking in the sun for the past few days followed by a heavy downpour this morning, I'm glad to say FS is still going strong, paint still feels silky smooth with lots of beading power, my trims are still black without any streaks or strains. Garlic 1st Gear January 25, 2007 Author Share January 25, 2007 After the recent downpour, I can gladly say that the trims are still looking good. The gel does not streak or stain and is pretty durable, I have to look very closely to spot areas with a little run off. As for FS, although the surface is no longer as slick it still beads like very well, the car is almost dry after an expressway drive.

Garlic 1st Gear February 5, 2007 Author Share February 5, 2007 The trim gel is starting to wear off and so far, I'm happy with its performance. Unlike many other products, it does not streak but instead slowly wear off, you know its time to slap on another coat when the plastic starts looking dull. Although its a little pricey, I would strongly recommend this product to cars with lots of black exterior trim. No mess, easy to use, durable and great results! ↡ Advertisement
