Think about this... with the implementation, other road users have one lane less to use ( capacity reduced )i.e 4-lane reduce by 25% and 3-lane reduces by 33%.

Yes, road tax should be cut 25% as well.

so is it consider an offence if one goes into the bus lane in operation to alight or pick-up passenger immediately & then goes out of the bus lane? What constituted an offence (1)once inside bus lane even for a while Or (2)travelling up to a certain distance in the bus lane ?

I heard from the news last nite.....saying there were 6,800 sumons just on that Orchard Rd bus lane alone.

Wah lou....each sumon is a fine of $130..........GOLD MINE for the govt man.

$130 x 6800 = 800+k. Easy money!!!! [dizzy][dizzy][dizzy]

I support this measures, i'm a bus user last time and its very annoying to see ppl drive their car and stop at the road side, den bus driver need to stop and wait. If the car not moving and put hazard light, bus need to cut lane, bus cut lane also not ez and take loner time, which in turn waste all the passengers time. A few of this car down the road is enuf to delay the travelling time greatly.

Think this is a measure from the govt to deter pple from driving to town and take public transport instead. Traffic conditions getting from bad to worse with more and more cars on the road nowadays. Been switching to MRT when going town on weekends cos its so hard to find parking lots and traffic jams make me realise that Singaporeans are getting richer.. [smash]

".....if we replace trunk services passing thru town and replace them with competitively priced feeder services within CBD, the traffic issues should be resolved. "

I dont think this will work out as there are already too many pple complaining the lack of feeder bus or trunk bus in the residential area.

MRT & Bus pairing maybe good idea but the convenience of taking a single bus trip to the destination is just too attractive to most pple.

That's because there are still choices available...unless they have no choice [sly]

Road tax won't increase...I'm waiting to see when they increase ERP. I'm also looking forward to see how they are going to solve traffic issues once the IRs are up.

They should set up barricades along the whole of Orchard Road... car stop, passenger alights... stuck on the road cos of the barricades and have to walk to the opening at the bus stops.... TP greet them with a smile and issue summon for jaywalking. [sly]

You should look at the situation along Serangoon Road... not vehicle traffic but human traffic on the road [hur]

Guess our new Transport Minister is launching a series of measures that will really make public transport users love him.

As the chinese say 'New officer-in-charge...3 strokes of fire' or something like that. [laugh][laugh]

He try to disciple others to make his life easier.

Why not ask him to do a survey how his bus driver behave??? [thumbsdown]

I beleive many brother and sister encounter before how this people "cheong" out of the bustop without checking their side!!!! That F*** give way sign behind the bus had made them feel that other road user is by law must give way...!!!

Good place to observe them is the road along toa payoh garden, where these bus stopped somewhere near the swimming pool, they will surprise you with a right dash to the center lane and again to the right lane then prepare to turn into the interchange.

So maybe this new officer in charge may want to look into these internal problems first before making more rule!!!!!

Cos of their high torque, if they don't chiong, they cannot make it. Thus, maybe it's their estimating skill not up to standard...chiong out only end up blocking others. [laugh]
