Scrambyjess Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 Im thinking of getting a PC from detailogy, but as a newbie to machine polish Im not sure of which products I should use with the PC (currently only using JW products). My car has swirls and water marks which can't be removed using manual polishing. So far my idea is as follow, hope you gurus can further enlighten me here. 1. wash and clay 2. PC with Orange Pad/ or Yellow Pad with Compound (Which Brand?) 3. PC with green pad with Polish (Which Brand?) 4. PC with blue pad with JW Prime Strong 5. Manual application with Prime trigger P.S will the above steps be too aggresive to the paint or should I skip certain steps? ↡ Advertisement

Number19 Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 I've used a PC b4 thanks to a fellow forummer. His advice to me was to always use the least aggressive method and see the progress first. For my watermarks + minor swirls we used light cutting pad + optimum polish. After we found poor progress, switch pad to medium + OP In the end, we use Optimum Hyper compound with medium cut, reduced my watermarks about 70% after 2 or 3 passes at speed 6. This is based on my very limited experience with the PC. Haven't used JW products b4, Gen2 will be more familiar with them.

Number19 Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 Optimum polish is less aggressive for sure. Hyper is meant for more serious defects, it did a good job reducing my watermarks! Heard a lot about the Menzerna polishes but haven't try b4

The website doesnt state that it comes with the 5inch backing plate and counter weights for the DA. Waiting for their reply though..

Garlic 1st Gear January 13, 2007 Share January 13, 2007 (edited) I have tried many polishes and Menzerna tops the list. Extremely good results though learning curve is a little steep and it produces a fair amount of dust. Edited January 13, 2007 by Garlic
Silgt Neutral Newbie January 13, 2007 Share January 13, 2007 (edited) Quote do i still need to buy a transformer for the PC since its makerted for the US market only you'll need a transformer at least 750W rated. Additional cost (and alot of weight) of around $200 for a good one, I think Think Hypercoat is planning to bring in a Meguiar's G-100 (made by PC but with different sticker) running 230V soon...but that could be another 6~12 months waiting time since they been talking about this for quite a while now Edited January 13, 2007 by Silgt ↡ Advertisement
