only 1% of subaru owners kept it stock..so for the handling part just change to a bigger 18 inch rim & tyre and coilover upgrade will do just nice for the LGT [thumbsup]

advise is not to go for the impreza. seriously underpowered, yet selling at such high price. the AWD leads to high fuel consumption.

MI's current promotion is 50k for the TS right?

not too bad what..

Subaru car is addictive.. don't ever try it... [laugh][laugh][laugh]

i'm long time Mitsu Lancer fan and long time toyota car owner... untill i tried this car... u jus feel like wanna drive it non-stop...

i'm driving MY05 Impreza TS (manual)... yes.. under power at 1st gear AND ONLY 1ST GEAR... due to low HP and super-duper heavy and safe body...

FC is depends on the driver.. I'm enjoying 10.7 - 12.5 kml on 50% normal road and 50% highway.. (10.7kmh when i play hard with boxer engine)... but, DUE TO ROCKING BOXER SOUND AND THE POWER GAIN AT HIGH END, u tend to forgot/unwillingly to change gear...

drive is very stable and handling is fantastic... hv been doing 160-180kmh at NSH with no problem on my stock TS... no floating feeling... steering not vibrating much... and power is consistent, u no need to get pedal to metal to reach the max speed limit(i.e power cut at 180kmh for TS)..

service is less than S$100 for me every time...

once own this AWD car, never look back to FWD cars...

Turbocharged

not to the extent of flipping lahh.. unless u do the 90 degree turn at 70kmh?

if go hard-core, better upgrade the handling compartment, and compromise your ride comfort (perhaps like the evo or sti).

lgt is an executive sedan with the power.. [sly]

[sly] As what cbhong mentioned, come over and you'll discover the rest.

Yes there are a few pro subaru workshop that do servicing at a very competitive rate.

Most of those who completed the 3 free servicing will go there to get solution when kena poisoned. [pirate]

Hi to all,

Very interested in this getting a subaru legacy 2.0R(though have to wait till end of year after my 30th bday and before enough money to change car, and legacy GT definitely out of my budget), just wondering how does a normal legacy compare to cars within its own range.

Namely cars such as Accord(JDM), the new camry, and civic 2L.

Comments?

Oh dear, then I must be one of those 1%. The only thing I've added to my LGT 2.0 Wagon is reverse sensors...

Anyway, to the TS, the LGT is a great car IMO. The best I've driven so far. Looks good. Rather rare on the roads. Build quality is very solid. Reliable, haven't had any problems for the year or so we've had it even when driving up to our "friendly neighbours". The power and roar from the engine at high revs is quite addictive. Ride is ok but I feel it could be stiffer (like Hondas) since there is some body roll during high-speed cornering but no where near the point where it feels like it's going to flip over like one poster mentioned. The AWD and stock RE050A tires give bucketloads of grip even in the wet which gives you the confidence to push it. The McIntosh sound system is fantastic so you can end up saving $$$ on ICE. The boot (since mine is the wagon version) is super huge and will take almost anything you want to carry.

The downside? If you're an "ethusiastic driver" like me, expect FC of around 6-7km/L. Subaru is also rather stingy on the extras. No reverse sensors. No auto flip-in wing mirrors. No HID headlamps. No boost meter on the dash (if you find that useful). I think the newer 2.5 versions include the HID lamps now. Not sure about the rest. Also, the wing mirrors are concave so they give a magnified view which means a huge blindspot beside you.

I am supprised my frostie 2.5XT returns better consumption than your LGT. I just came back from NS highway and the average FC 8.2km/L with speed vary from 0-190kmh when situation permits. New My07 FXT comes with flip-in wing mirrors with excellent view( the outer portion is convex to enhance the view of the blind spot). The HID lamps are standard items on the new 2.5 XT engines. Though the model looked outdated and boring, its practical and is an excellent all round vehicle to owned. During the drive,it gained at least one BM 3 series driver's respect as the pickup is far superior than his. Though he later overtook my subie at speed above 2xx kmh. Another W plate X5 driver must be curious enough to slow down and followed my subie to a slip road to have a closer look at what was this vehicle's make behind him that the pose of taking off and keeping pace at ease with his expensive X5 is coming from. With the high commanding view, there are good reasons why I prefer to be the second car behind them travelling at such speed.

That's probably because that 8.2km/l is purely highway driving. My 6-7km/l is like 80% city, 20% highway. Anyway, it's good to know that the newer models are improving upon the problems of the old. :)

Calling all subaru car owners.

Appreciate if you could feedback on the maintenace, fuel consumption, etc about this brand car.

Sad to say ... majority of the subarus drivers that meet on the roads or in person seem to need

a) Anger management lessons OR

b) Lessons in basic spoken english OR

c) Courtesy courses OR

d) Religious lessons on how precious life is....

Take note, in the bukit timah area where I live, the people don't really fancy owning subarus (except for the forester) ... they say it spoils their image ... [:|]

My friend also the same.

Previously own an impreza but the maintenance very high and parts wear out much faster than other 1.6 Jap car. FC also very lousy. But when he upgrade, he change to Legacy.haha..

He says he like the 4WD handling like you.

Personally, I dun like subaru cars. Sorry, no offend to subaru driver.
