Skoda Superb Car Mats from Jackson Vehicle

Hi all,

This is the first sample of car mats provided by Jackson Vehicle. Attached are the comments:

- Deeper shade of green preferred for the Skoda logo.

- 2 front mats: I'd suggest that the mounting holes for both right and left mats to be installed at the same level. The lengths of the mats are different.

Prefer if the mats are of the same length, so that positions of the mounting holes can be levelled.

- On some pictures, the 'SUPERB' letterings seem to be slanted. Check that the top edges of the letterings are flushed.

- 'SUPERB' lettering on rear centre mat: fit to the centre of the mat.

Looking forward to your comments.

PS: These mats are exclusively for SOG members. Similar mats for Octavia can also be fabricated.

If it is a single set, it costs $80 + GST. A few of us Superb owners have embarked on a group purchase. We will be paying slightly less than $80 inclusive of GST.

Would you like to get one set for your Octavia too? The 'Octavia' letterings are available. You can tag onto our group purchase as we have not collected the mats yet.

Hi,

Due to the quantity of the order, the mats are fabricated after the orders have been placed with Jackson Vehicle. The mats which you see now are the first prototypes from Jackson Vehicle.

Currently, the following SOG members have placed an order and are awaiting delivery of the finished product.

1. Lamy

2. Fisheye

3. Tashi

4. Koolaba

Would you like to get a set for yourself too?

As you can see, we are not very satisifed with the first prototypes. Some corrections need to be done. Thereafter, Jackson Vehicle will proceed with the fabrication of the mats after gathering our inputs and test fitting these prototypes in Lamy's ride.

The mats which CA provides us are supplied by Jackson Vehicle too, but of a lower quality. The material is very prone to wear and tear, the furry material is easily dislodged from the base of the mat. The studs at the rear are very pricky. According to Jackson Vehicle, this batch of materials has been imported after CA has imposed certain cost restrictions on the mats.

You will find car mats of the same low quality material in Geely cars.

I reiterate that these mats are meant solely for SOG members. The cost of fabricating the mould for the following items have been absorbed by some of us in the group:

- Skoda logo

- "SUPERB" and "OCTAVIA" lettering

Under no circumstance should these mats be found in:

- new Skoda vehicles registered by CA.

- other Skoda vehicles which do not belong to SOG.

Tempted to get a set for yourself too? It is still not too late to place an order and qualify for the group purchase price.

I suggest the mat at the driver side has some cut in just below the accelerator paddle. Else, it blocks it from full trottle.

Let's wait for Lamy's report after test fitting the first prototypes in his ride. The right front mats of the prototype should be of the same dimension as the existing ones we have.

Each time I drive to CAG for servicing, they will often fold up my existing one at the driver side so as to avoid obstruction in flooring the pedal. I do really find it obstructing it. That is why I suggest we cut it in.

Hi all,

This was Koolaba comments from the pictures sent to him and my comments after viewing the mats.

Front Mats

Amongst the comments we have given, I am most uncomfortable with the positions of the mounting holes on the left front mat. They look very weird compared to the ones on the right front side. (leslie: When I placed in the mats and lock them, they actually look ok. The original is also off too. see pictures)

As for the length of the left front mat, it can be extended by a few cm to match the length of the right front side. The effect: you will see more area of the foot well covered by the carpet. However, do check if the existing prototype has a tendency to fold downwards after installation. This is because the material of the new mat is quite heavy (1000g per unit area type) compared to the existing ones we have from CA (450g type).

(leslie: Shaun (the guy that did our mat's templates) said that if we extend it, it will fold back. but again it is our choice. See pics.)

Rear Mats

I believe the dimensions of the rear mat are unchanged from the existing ones. However I do have slight problem fitting my existing rear left mat. The edge of the mat close to the blower on the floor seems to be a bit broad for a nice fit. The problem could come from:

- Slightly ill-fitting template

- Production flaw which affected that piece of mat

(leslie: I fitted both, and noticed right side actually touches the air vents. Where as the left side was 3-5 shy of touching the air vents. Maybe the locking holes were cut a little too low. Not sure if you can see from the pics. )

Skoda Logo and 'SUPERB' Lettering

These items are manually positioned on the mat and subsequently hot-stamped. Please ask Henry to inform his workers to align the items properly before stamping. As you could see from the 1st prototype, the letterings and logo are not properly centralised on some mats.

(leslie: They said they will align them properly.)

Heel protector

The first prototype do not have the heel protector hot-stamped at the driver's side. Please check with Henry where is the approximate location that the protector will be stamped. Check if that location suggested by Henry will be the most optimal.

(leslie: It is the plush felt type, not the plastic type. )

Another comments was the Colour of green in logo, (leslie: Henry said the colour is correct and cannot be change.)

My comments.

- The right front mats top left over shoot the left foor rest. They re-measured a new template.

- I felt the drv top left could cover more under the accelerator, but Hnery said it might interfere with the pedal.

- I also left the mat should cover more on the front left top left area. They said this is normal for all mats.

- the new left from mats are actually longer at the bottom, this is when the lock nut holes are aligned.

- also noticed that the saddle mat is much deeper and has to be tuck inside under the seat to fit. I'm ok with this, makes sure that the mat does not move around.

- overall OK with the quality apart from the logo placement.

- The heel protector pic is from another mat.

I will be consolidating the orders before I send the changes wanted to Jackson Vehicle.

Hi all,

I have received the latest version of the SUPERB mats today. It is very much improved over the first version. I will post some pictures when I have the opportunity to do so.

Jackson Vehicle will not be able to deliver the mats before CNY. In fact, there was some delay in the delivery of the prototypes.

Here is the final order list:

1. Lamy

2. Fisheye

3. Tashi

4. Koolaba

5. Putter

6. Fluffy (new owner of a FL Superb)

JV offers door-to-door delivery of the mats. Please PM me the address where the mats should be delivered to. Otherwise, I will collect the mats on your behalf and distribute it during the next SOG meetup.
