Russ 1st Gear January 10, 2007 Share January 10, 2007 AT LEAST once a month PREFERABLY every 2 weeks - at least check the pressure BEST every week - at least check the pressure Sometimes tyres lose pressure due to small punctures - if you don't check you never know!! Kklee 6th Gear January 10, 2007 Share January 10, 2007 (edited) IMHO, when to pump depends on driving style, timing, and to a certain extend, the car. On my previous ride, I need to pump air almost weekly. Then, thought that there was something seriously wrong with my tyres to the extend of changing to new tyres. Present ride, slightly better, but still almost a weekly affair - accepted it as a fact. When my tyres worn out and had to be changed, I opted for nitrogen. With nitrogen, the pressure still drops. Since the shop that i pump nitrogen opens on Sunday, I try my best to pump every Sunday too. I think there is no hard and fast rule about it. Best is to invest in a tyre pressure gauge and monitor to see what's best for you. Edited January 10, 2007 by Kklee

Dipstick Neutral Newbie January 10, 2007 Share January 10, 2007 Me, too. Around once a month, if I remember. Otherwise once every 2 months or so but then I always pump them up slightly higher to compensate for the inevitable leakage.
Nutty 4th Gear January 10, 2007 Share January 10, 2007 For me, I pump air every 2 visits to the petrol kiosk. That's about 3 weeks 1 time. The best is to get a tyre gauge to see whether you need to pump...

Lorrliew Neutral Newbie January 10, 2007 Share January 10, 2007 I check every 2 weeks. After some trial & error on various interval, you'll roughly able to gauge the suitable interval for your car. The ultimate aim is to maintain correct pressure for all if not most of the time.
Blu_g Neutral Newbie January 10, 2007 Share January 10, 2007 last time used to do it once a mth or more bt I find tat the pressure is very low... so now I'll do it every two wks..
BoneStock 5th Gear January 10, 2007 Share January 10, 2007 Hi, I dun know when to pump air, every time drop by the workshop ask them to pump, they said dun need. Then when should i pump when i start see sign I usually pump once a month. Pressure typically reduce about 2psi... I don't strictly keep track. whenever the steering wheel starts to feel heavy, I know it is time to pump the tyres. The best time to pump the tyres is early in the morning when they are still cold. If you drive to the petrol kiosk that is a distance away, the tyres would have warmed up and the pumping will not be accurate. So it is better for you to pump about 2psi higher than the requirement...wait till next morning when the tyres cooled down...and release some excess air with the help of an accurate tyre pressure gauge. Usually those numbers shown at the pumps are not acurate one...even digital pumps For me, I prefer to use a portable air compressor as it is more accurate...also easy to use and I don't have to queue behind inconsiderate drivers who take their freaking own sweet time at the petrol kiosks. Some even conveniently park their cars at the designated areas mean for pumping tyres
Boyboy 1st Gear January 10, 2007 Share January 10, 2007 For me I pump once a month, pressure drops abt 5-10kpa max.. so this interval works for me. and if i'm making a long drive up north, i will check my pressure unless my last check was within the week however, this only works because the tyres/valve stem are new. otherwise i think it's prudent to check every 2 weeks unless u experience no pressure drop at all then can extend interval. Iziz Clutched January 10, 2007 Share January 10, 2007 I used to check every week, very paranoid abt the tyre pressure as it makes a BIG impact to my FC. Anyways, I have since installed a tyre pressure monitoring system and no need to keep checking, also have upgraded to nitrogen
