TP on Bridge Warning By Tapping Brakes

I was travelling on SLE, exit Lentor Ave towards AMK and from far I could see a white figure sticking out on the bridge and I suspect that it must be TP. I slowed down and at the same time try to warn the cars behind me by tapping my brakes a few times, but this bloody Indian guy driving a Blue Mazda 3 behind me, started flashing his lights and horn me, filter to the centre lane, then cut into my lane at close range w/o signalling. I cursed and swear and tot that I shd juz filter out and let him get caught for speeding. After all, I was already doin abt 70km/h on a 60km/h speed limit.

I take it he did not see the TP and do not know what I was doing. How will you guys read it when you see tapping of brakes?

i learnt from hazard lights from front veh, already occured and saved me twice.

Now when i see the white mice, i do the same and slow down. usually the rear cars get the hint.

actually i want to ask... i was caught speeding at 85km/h on a 60 stretch, truth is, I was rushing someone to hospital and decided to drive a bit faster when i was caught. I have not been caught speeding for over 4 years and was really pissed when i got the letter for speeding. Want to appeal, but don't know how my chances are like. What do you guys think?

Get a letter from doc explaining the situation, I did that for my bro-in-law and his fine was waived.

For ur case if u have the documentations to proof you're at the hospital around the time stated. Should not be too hard to appeal. Just pop down to TP at ubi or fax if u dont have the time .

Er.....Don't use your hazard lights leh. TP wil see your hazard & know that u r warning other drivers.

Tap your brakes to warn vehicles behind u & flash your highbeams to warn vehicles in front of you. [thumbsup]

Just last week, at 2am, I had to fetch a relative to hospital A&E, I also beat several red lights.

Of course I stopped at the white line, made sure there were no cars before proceeding.

Traffic Police are reasonable people and they will waive your speeding ticket.

Bro, i agree and disagree with you. Your braking maybe good intention but may be read by others as road hogging. Not that i am selfish but i personally feels that there is nothing to warn others about.. As a driver, you should keep a look out and react in time, When the traffic in front is slowing down you should notice.

Sometimes it is difficult to help others. You try to warn them, they though you asking them for race .. [hur][hur][hur]

there is no need to tap brakes or wadever, when the traffic is slow, auto will noe there's TP... save one trouble is always better then having one more [flowerface]

Hi Aidan,

U've done ur part to warn others behind u.

but if i'm u...aft tapping e brakes, i would immediately filter to the centre lane..

tat will even show more promptly to other cars behind.

btw jus for additional info, for travelling on expressways, even if we are travelling to the speed limit, we are still not allowed to travel on the extreme right lanes, unless for overtaking.

..else TPs can easily catch and charge us for road-hoggings....

Some sees it as nuisance but i gladly appreciate guys like u. it is abt helping each other and once along mandai rd, a van in the opposite direction kept high beaming..the vehicle in front would see it as a challenge but round a bend and u see a tp hiding in the bush near a bus stop, so i rather take such things as positive.

I read tapping of brakes in front of me as a warning of some sort... best to safe than sorry... I'd thank the guy if it was a TP in front...

... but if he's just trying to be funny... especially like tapping brake continuously along an empty road where both cars are travelling at legal speeds, then I'm gonna get a bit cheesed by the driver in front

And most of the time, it's cos it's a driver who is unsure of themselves when I pass by them

This is exactly what I'll do next time. Just felt that it was Hao Xin Mei Hao Bao. That bugger trying to be funny after I alerted him... [furious][furious][furious]

every careful driver should know how to slow down when approaching overhead bridges. becareful that your tapping of brakes may lead to accidents especially if the car is following you too close
