Nitekid Neutral Newbie January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 Car owners try to cheat on petty things like : 1. Parking coupons (not displaying any or tearing off the labels at a later time) 2. Parking illegally to avoid paying parking charges 3. Waiting before the ERP gantry to avoid paying ERP charges (and obstructing traffic) And ironically, these same owners can spend tonnes of money on modeifications, bigger sports rims wider tyres and ICE etc. ... worse still, spending money on unproven snake oil devices claiming to improve fuel economy. Why all the hassle and misery? Might as well not own a car. Better off to be chauffeured around in a taxi. Who doesnt.....Either u don't own a vehicle or u are either some "angel" that goes by the rules in a book and have never bend it in your life. Please think again before you post. On weekends, also can see people driving expensive cars (e.g. BMW 5-series, MB, Camry, Cefiro etc) waiting for free parking lots when there are "per entry" car parks around costing less than $3.00 per entry. Gnoikj Neutral Newbie January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 I agree wholeheartedly... OPC cheats are surely the most disgraceful bunch I've seen... Best thing is, even tho gahmen knows OPC system is not achieving what it set out to do, ie, to have less vehicles on the road during rush hours, its not doing anything! Its like gahmen is encouraging this really pathetic behavior!
Princey_anne 1st Gear January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 (edited) It's the driver, not the car. I agree with you. You have NEVER displayed a parking coupon with a Later Time ? 2. Some times its not becos' drivers do it on purpose, maybe driver drove around and could not find a parking space at all ? 3. Waiting before ERP gantry is quite dangerous and common, but then again, maybe the driver did not have enough $$$ in the cashcard ? 4. Even Taxi drivers "cheat" on the above... go with the Bus ? Some people have Taxes, tons of Bills, Baby powder milk to buy, more bills, more summons, grandpa/ma to feed, maid services to pay....so by saving on every thing and Any Thing is necessary for some. With our gahment increasing on every thing, you don't want to save ?
Humsuplou Neutral Newbie January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 Well it's not nice to instigate an evaluation by Dr. Stevenson out of pure malignity. According to Georgetown University psychologist W. Gerrod Parrott, Ph.D., envy occurs when a person lacks another person's superior quality, achievement, or possession, and desires it--or wishes that the other person lacked it. Jealousy, by contrast, occurs in the context of a close relationship when a person fears losing an important other to a rival--in particular, losing a relationship that is important to one's sense of self. That explains all.

Mikeyeo Clutched January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 (edited) I have to say that whether one is rich or poor, it's just human nature to cheat abit here and there especially on coupon parking. However, I have observed that the rich with expensive cars are the ones that commit the most offences rather than the OPC car owners and car owners like us. Despite knowing very well that the carpark requires coupon, they simply don't border to put. Some even parked on double yellow lines and let the traffic police or wardens issue summons on them. Most often than not, when I go out with friends who drive expensive and exotic cars, they would not border to put coupons. Whenever I tell them to put coupon rather than being fined, their reply is that he would rather be fined. Sure enough, after an hour of parking, they don't get any summon. I do not know whether these traffic police or traffic wardens close one eye when they see an expensive or exotic car parking either without a coupon or illegally. Damienic 5th Gear January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 (edited) Vit4wd, I would say its not normal to wait for a while below the ERP gantry before passing through just to save that bit cos it can be a nuisance to other road-users and endanger yourself too...but cheating 15 mins on parking coupons?? come on, Iam sure most of us who bother to put on a parking coupon would do that..its perfectly normal unless one goes to the extreme of using a coupon that has already been used before... Genie47 1st Gear January 8, 2007 Share January 8, 2007 These are practitioners of the Dark Side of the Driving Force. The real powerful Jedrivers are those who: 1. Look around seeking for single yellow line parking. 2. Look for places with no markings, signs or whatsoever to allow the use of "arbitrary laws" for parking and hence not allowing authorities to enact legalities over what constitutes to legal parking. 3. Seek new routes to avoid ERP like the Portsdown exit to get past the Alexandra exit to get to Tanglin. These are the powerful ones among us.
