for those fans of EMMA who can't get enough of listening to the silky tones of the deliciously engaging EMMA 5 Pianos track daily during your drive to and from work, here's another one, if not just because playing only 1 track on your CD player all the time is said to be hazardous to the health of your speakers.

and yes, for the first time in the history of both the car industry and the audio world, you get something for free!

Anyone has noticed any problem with track 10 of this new EMMA2007 track? EMMA2007_10_your love ain′t so easy high.mp3 like after frame 0:32 it fades to no sound till the end. Kind of seem weird to me.

I noticed that just now. It's definitely a kok-up. Anyway, the mps are encoded at 128 Kbps only, so some may say these tracks are not audiophile quality =)

Audiophile quality CDs do not rest only on the bit rate they are pressed. Its a thorough and tedious process which starts from the selection of recording studio to the mic used, the physical condition of the room acoustics, to the miking, the transfer of analogue tape to the DAC processor...

I believe EMMA has done a good job of making their own test tracks in their studio, as compared to some other competition CDs that seemingly "borrow" tracks from some other test CDs.

This was the reason why I was sharing with some Nasi Padang folks that this EMMA series of test CDs are in fact better than the IASCA one, especially so for reviewing or auditioning of SQ in our car environment.

The true test will come when our car audio cannot faithfully reproduce the test tracks the manner in which the sound engineer has intended them.

All said, what's more important to me, is how best my records/CDs will turn out to be, its how well my car audio can accurately and correctly present to me the original music was supposed to be.

it's not an error, i believe.

that track was meant to listen to tonal balance at high volume, compared to low. and perhaps they felt that that short segment was enough as part of the judging process.

cos at low level they wanna confirm whether the low frequencies are retained. if things are ok at low levels, maybe the high level one is just to make sure the dynamic passages dun get too irritating, and that short segment serves that purpose.

they are also trying to fit into the 15 minute time frame, cos if every competition lasts until 4 am in the morning, how many entrance fees can they collect within a 24 hr period? EMMA dun do lugi business u know ...

Hi Hyun,

Just hope that this MP3 tracks for free download are just trial copies that will make us buy the original. Coz I find that the recording especially for track 03_technical track for staging and imaging.mp3 starts off at the far end centre with soft footsteps but when he finally gets to the front, his footsteps seemed to suddenly appears loud in front while the footsteps at the far end centre seems a little detached from his own vocal.

Don't know if we buy the original 2007 CD, is that what we get and what it should be?... Just wanna share this piece of information and would like to hear comments from those who had downloaded this EMMA2007 and tgried these 13 mp3 tracks

Hi Bro Sarong1,

I just received a reply to my 2 questions from EMMA Sound Judge:

The Emma cd is like a tool and it's important to know how to use it wink.gif .

Trk number 10 is used for "Overall Spectral balance at higher volume level"

From 00.33 fade out and silence is used to judge "Adjustments to score" (the sound is still there, but level is real low, maybe MP3 cut this part or you didn't notice wink.gif ).

I don't know about trk number 3, CDs and DVDs don't have any problem and I didn't try MP3 on my home system (my hi-end cd player doesn't read MP3 raz.gif ) __________________

Hi Hyun,

Is there a new Track remarks for EMMA 2007? According to Alex Klett of EMMA, in the printed Rulebook version (available in March 2007) there are some schemes included to help you understand the recordings better. So just have to wait for someone who can get the printed 2007 rulebook.

Sorry for the minor thread hijack. May I have you regular's comments on the 3 tone/5 position piano track? How is it supposed to sound like?

I guess the position part is quite clear, but are the 3 tones all supposed to image at the same spot? I find this rather difficult to achieve, the lower tones image at a lower point and goes vertical up during the 3 tones.

Did anyone manage to get the 3 tones out at the same spot over all 5 positions?

What I have experienced, is that, the 3 notes/keys do fall on the same location throughout the repetition. The soundstage of the 5 positions are at least above the dashboard.

Is yours a 2-way or 3-way? In my 3-way discourse, the imaging was pretty easy to obtain but the more difficult one, would be the lower note of the 3, which I think, resides on the 100Hz, this is the freq that resonates in our door panel. If your door is not treated with sound damping adequately, you get box up effects. This has effects on the relative height and perception.

You can try on Kermit's system as a guide. wink.gif

Hi sarong, mine can be considered 2-way. the tweets are in the sails crossed at 1.25khz

I will reconfigure and try running the tweets down till 200hz, that should help with lifting the soundstage.

uncle bob, I will try to make it this wednesday for the meet
