Nero159 Neutral Newbie January 3, 2007 Share January 3, 2007 Did a search of the Forum but could not find any discussion on GPS. I'm a newbie to GPS system for cars and would like some advice on which is best in term of installation ease, coverage for M'sia and value for money. Hope to get some comments from the gurus here. Cheers! ↡ Advertisement

Nero159 Neutral Newbie January 3, 2007 Author Share January 3, 2007 Thanks for the info. I'm looking for a "more portable" unit that does not displace my OEM HU (as it's kind of unique and nicely designed into the facia). Cheers!
Dwst Neutral Newbie January 3, 2007 Share January 3, 2007 Are you asking about standalone or in-car unit? If you have an existing DVD player, a navigation module can be installed. Standalone unit is portable, come in 3.5" or 7" type. For map, try agis map. Most comprehensive data so far, for Singapore and Malaysia map.

Chinmeng Neutral Newbie January 3, 2007 Share January 3, 2007 Get the Garmin Nuvi 310/610, u will never regret getting it althought it is a bit pricey. Try to search at Sim Lim Tower for the Nuvi 310 at about $620 without map, which u dun actually need, can use the free map from malsingmaps.com

Elepoo 2nd Gear January 3, 2007 Share January 3, 2007 Hi bro, I am using HP Ipaq rx5700 Travel Companion and this is the PDA with built in GPS. Comes with Mapking software, but i also installed Pocket MV with free maps from Malsing. (updated with speed traps locations along NSH ) Tried on NSH a few times, and also recent trips to Port Dickson, Cameron Highlands, Penang and Kulai. Very useful and you will not be able to get lost!!! (Unless you can't read maps) Elepoo Did a search of the Forum but could not find any discussion on GPS. Sony 1st Gear January 3, 2007 Share January 3, 2007 You might want to look at standalone such as Mio 550 which my friend have great review so far.. I think it cost about $500+ during the computer fair with a lot of freebies. if you have a PDA, try getting a GPS receiver.. Both options are portable and even allow you to use it for trekking beside using it for driving. Maybe you like to tell us more about your requirement and budget so that we can discuss further. Cheers
