Koolaba 1st Gear January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 I doubt Skoda sales figure in Singapore will ever hit 3 digit registration figures if the sales strategy of CA remains unchanged. The prices for the options which I have quoted earlier include the 20% value-added tax component which is applicable in Austria. The true cost of the equipment is definitely lower. The inclusion of new features in the FL Superb seems to be an instrument to increase the lard in the profit margins. If Skoda in Singapore has reached the same standing as Toyota and Honda in terms of sales and branding, this is a wise move for the dealer. But for a brand which has not found a strong foothold in the Japanese-dominated car market in Singapore, CA should seriously consider other strategies to increase the acceptance of Skoda in Singapore, if it ever wants. Knighthunter 4th Gear January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 I just see what 92k can get me........simple! Any apple orange grape whatever if the price is at the same range you have choices......
Knighthunter 4th Gear January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 I drove older version A4 1.8T Audi often when I was Oz, the car is belong to my one close friend. Turbo only boosting 0.4 bar, no turbo rush feeling even with ECU flash it only made agressive timing but turbo boost still the same.

Knighthunter 4th Gear January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 What's your point? Let make me simple bro, if you are looking for turbo rush. Superb with 1.8T MPI engine doesn't not make the cut due to low pressure turbo boost. LPT Engine is not built for hard punishment of high pressure turbo, if you can boost the turbo in Superb for $1k you are smart. I think I must learn from you Thank you
Knighthunter 4th Gear January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 To prevent misunderstanding. I am not bashing Superb, it's a good and decent car.

Koolaba 1st Gear January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 Hopefully they will be SQUEEZED out of business if this mentality persists, in the same fashion how Group Exklusiv relinquished the VW dealership in Singapore.

I am not bashing Superb, it's a good and decent car. My point is.... the 1.8T block is well known to be capable of punishment up to 300bhp. The car comes stock with 0.7bar boost, with different tuning, the boost can be more than doubled depending on the type of chip/flash of the ecu for a mere $1k. If you've got more money to spare, a full exhaust upgrade will make the turbo rush stronger. You can even get both done up if you manage to lay your hands on a used chip. A turbo upgrade would be wicked I'm saying this not from imagination. The workshop I frequent has churned out these cars for several years already. There ARE 1.8T cars running around locally with more kick than you mentioned. Lastly, no worries about bashing or not bashingthe Superb. I don't drive one Although I do enjoy sitting at the rear of one, it makes me feel like a sugar daddy with that huge legroom
Lightspeed Clutched January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 The folks up there aren't really interested in the car trade, especially after giving up on Renault and losing control of VW. You would've thought they would pull up their socks and go one up since Skoda is all that they have left. Guess not. They've got the misconception that Skoda is a premium niche brand, just like they did with VW Oh well... less Skodas on the road for now (with the exception of cabs). It keeps the insurance for Skoda owners low anyway
Landex Clutched January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 the last part is 2 possibilities: 1) the pple ain't wear no socks, only stockings. 2) the pple r into diversification.... i.e venturin into new areas... IR!!!
Lightspeed Clutched January 24, 2007 Share January 24, 2007 (edited) Geely is their cash cow now ... who cares about Skoda? It's history in Singapore has already been tainted by the ex distributor and CA did little to establish it's name again, after the JTA fiasco and coming in as the "hero" for Skoda Edited January 24, 2007 by Lightspeed
Landex Clutched January 25, 2007 Share January 25, 2007 whether it will be a cash cow or not... only time will tell... cos based on current numbers... it is a cash cow indeed.. abeit a malnourished one.
Knighthunter 4th Gear January 25, 2007 Share January 25, 2007 I don't know bro, but you can safely increade boost double from 0.7 bar to 1.4 bar without serious beefing engine internal sound not right to me. Either someone is really an expert in tuning (God of Tuning) or just snake oil. I doubt any 1.8T MPI engine comes with forged pistons. Turbo boosting 1.4 bar is a lot and it can kill the engine prematurely. Also ECU flashing/chipping to increase 30% engine output(150 Hp --> 190 Hp) at mere 1k I am amazed. Tashi Clutched January 25, 2007 Share January 25, 2007 hi bro To add to bro LightSpeed's comments, the 1.8T block is a old and established block and lots have been done to it. Just google the block and you will know. It is not snake oil of any kind. You can trust the German brethren to develop something that some would say, "over"-engineered. And yes, if you look around, there are quite a few players in the ECU remapping business, which will offer just ECU remapping to reach between 180+ to 190+ BHP for the venerable 1.8T block easy, with various performance modes if you pay just a couple of hundreds extra (including catering for race fuel, anti-theft, valet mode, etc). just my humble 1 cent. bless tashi ↡ Advertisement
