Tinted rear windows for PI cars

It seems that only the PI cars have their cars with heavily tinted rear windows (eg. Wish, Stream, Airwave...) as compared to those from AD although LTA have relax the ruling quite some ago. Look at your std Corolla, Picnic, M3... the tinting is only very slight.

Any comments?

normal for PI cars to come with slightly heavier tinted rear windows. as SG is the only country I can think of having to impose such rules in your ride.

so, is the tinting on the Wish and Stream from the PI legal?? If not, I am sure, some would have kena by now on the 3rd year inspection.

But, I have to say, the tinting makes the car looks more chiong. On the practical side, it does provide 'protection' to those in the 2nd row in terms of shineshine and makes the car cooler.

No lah, PI also link up with tinting shop what. They should be just LTA compliant unless owner instructs otrherwise. Maybe AD too kia si, ask tinting shop to tint minimal with huge margin for compliance. sly.gif

Wish rear tint is original from Japan IIRC.

The tinting from the PI is called Privacy Glass.. it does not offer the UV & IR protection unless the glass itself already has UV protection. The Glass should comply with LTA rulings if not, LTA would have clamped down on them long time ago. Then again, LTA has been rather lax with such things.. preferring to react than to act.

Hi there,

You are right because the last row of wish is not installed with air-con vent.

Which I think why the rear windscreen is so dark.

Just wish to understand why people want to see from outside.

Yes, you are right. I've noticed that the Wish's factory rear windows are very dark. When up for additional tinting, Wish will have to go for totally clear tint to pass the VLT test.
