How much does the toyota stock timing belt cost?

Any other things that I need to get or change or replace together with timing belt?

Is it worth the trouble to get one of these

I usually do the following when I change timing belt.

1) All beltings (fan, alternator)

2) Water Pump

3) Adjust tappet

4) replace all fulid (coolant and engine oil)

If yours is stock, does not matter what belts you use. No performance gained. Go for factory belt or Mistusubo or Gates belt...these are reliable brands.

I wud just stick with the OEM belt. Lexus has already spent a lot of $$$ & done all the testing necessary to weed out all those crappy belts & find the most suitable belt for their engine.

How much does these cost? Planning to do these at 80k. Does the belt tensioner need to be changed as well?

I also do the above with the additional of the belts highlighted in RED & the "tensioner" & the bearing check.

Tappets are the ones that open and closes your valves.

Overtime they will emit a tap tap noise when you start the engine...some can be adjusted while some are self adjusting.

I see ... how much is reasonable for a set of belts?

This sort of thing change every 3-4 years, afraid I will be "chopped" by the stockist.

For normal jap cars, it costs me about $300 plus incl all belts & tensioner & bearing. Also the water pump included. This is price at outside ws & not agent.

Yours is Lexus, right? Then price wil b more ex lah. [:p]

Hahaha. $500 don't want to spend but later spend thousands to change car. [sly]

Can lah. U veli lich leh. [laugh]

Anyway I had my timing belt done at Komodo b4 for my Excel. They did a poor job & also charge me abt $500. Damm ex & lousy workmanship.

Now I stay away from the AD's. I prefer those outside ws for price & workmanship. [thumbsup]

Hahaha. Anyway I think all the AD's give lousy workmanship & charge sky high prices.

Next time just go outside ws & get it done lah. By that time, the warranty expired already.

Confirm not timing chain like my previous sunny. The ones in the pics are the (branded) timing belt for my car.

These are in the region of 15000 - 17000 yen. Dunno how much those pple are going to wack in Singapore once got HKS/TODA on the product.

Thats why I am looking for the rough price for the stock parts. If differ by less than say $100 for the stock timing belt, don't mind getting a "better" one. That's just ego at work. Spread out over 3-4years its not that much per year ... not like we change belts every 6mths. Timing belt important lah ... accessories bet the stock ones will do. [laugh][laugh][laugh]
