Vit4wd 1st Gear December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 ... for a 1.6 auto Jap car. Look at trip meter and petrol gauge in picture. ↡ Advertisement

Ldawn88 2nd Gear December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 quite hard by simply looking at the pic alone. there are cars that drop relatively slower/faster during the first quarter tank, partly due to the shape/ design of the tank.
Prozac Clutched December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 its not accurate if u gauge now... use the whole tank near to empty and then gauge again..
Gravestone December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 true...its also quite subjective coz it seriously depends on how one drive his car...my previous opel astra G 1.6 Auto could actually cover bout 250km during the first quarter tank but at the end of the day, my best FC is 10.8km/l..... Ldawn88 2nd Gear December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 my ride is only 80km on the first quarter tank, but can actually get ard 380km before the fuel light appears . so very difficult to judge if a car is economical just looking at the quarter tank reading. Kwchan 1st Gear December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 a more accurate way is to start from a full tank, drive until fuel low warning is on, then pump full tank again, check your receipt to find out how many litre consumed. this is what i got for 57L
Bentwy Neutral Newbie December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 it's how the tank/gauge is designed. i do 250km in the first 1/4, another 300-350 in the next 3/4. not an indicator of economy.
Gravestone December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 wat car u driving? with the opel, i get 500km worst mileage while when i'm lite footed, i can get 540km...

Redboy 1st Gear December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 How much fuel can your tank hold? 55l? Anyway, If u want to measure like this, can also. Before everything, pump till you see petrol for first time, then stop. Travel as per normal. Say you want to measure FC when fuel needle is 3 marks away from full. Then pump again till you see petrol for first time. Take note of the litres pumped. There you have it.
Nkps 1st Gear December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 (edited) uncle vit, is this a altis? for what i know, altis tank is 'V' shape, so for the 1st half tank, it should be able to cover a very good milage, but after that, it will drop sharply, but afterall, is a nice car with low FC. Tanjkp Clutched December 23, 2006 Share December 23, 2006 Corolla tank is very difficult to fill until brim. It takes patience and time to really fill to "full". My experience with it was the indicator started to shift down slightly only after more than 200km.
