Hi Bros and Sis

 

I need your valuable views on the above matter. Yesterday my wife was travelling along PIE(Jurong) on the 1st lane, travelling about 90km/hr. She slowed down her car when the car infront of her slowed down. Out of the sudden, this malaysian car(Proton Saga) ram into the butt of her car(Toyota Yaris).

 

Damage report(Toyota Yaris)

Bumper damaged (need to replace)

Rear sensor damaged

Internal rear bodywork damaged

car plate light damaged

 

Damage report (Proton Saga)

1/3 of the front bonnet totalled(still able to drive)

 

How should i go about claiming from this guy? (Got all his details including his malaysia insurance details)

 

i am thinking the following options

1) Do in Singapore workshop, claim from the guy

2) Do in AD workshop, claim insurance (Can i use his insurance to claim?)

3) Do in Malaysia workshop, claim his insurance

 

Which is a more feasilbe way to do? Any other options?

bro, i tink first of all shld take some pics of the incident without moving both vehicles.

Look for witness.

 

But now since e ting is over, best way would be consult ur insurance company for advice.

Have u filed a police report?

From wad i noe, very hard to claim against a foreign-registered vehicle.

Was side-swipped a few times by Msian cars, but luckily e damage was very minimal so just let it go.

From many people, it is said that getting involved in an accident with a Malaysia registered ride is basically kissing goodbye to your own NCD & increasing your premium next year [:|] It's not that i'm trying to 'Han' you but just that this is the truth [nod]

 

I hope that i'm proven wrong though [nod][nod][nod]

 

Maybe, Bro Guyver can advise you cos he is in the automotive insurance line. (Bro Guyver, hope you don't mind that i've quoted you [:p]

 

Most people when langa will demand $$$ on the spot but your damage seems a bit more serious rather than it's just a ding/ or dent hence it's better to give your insurance company a ring first [nod][nod][nod]

That's right. If possible, try to get any amount of $$ from them if they are in the wrong. Otherwise, ask them to go with you to the Police Station. Do anything to make it trouble some for them.

 

You will need to make a police report anwyay. Then submit all information, photos, IC numbers of driver, etc to your insurance company. You will still make a claim against your own policy, so there goes your NCD ~30%, if you're lucky.

 

Had the unfortunate experience as well. Insurance co is fighting for it, but understand that will take 2 - 3 years. By then your NCD go back to normal and you cannot get your refund! Not fair at all.

Bro, sad to hear that you are also 1 of the unlucky ones whom had an accident with foreign registered rides [:(]

 

'Peng Peng An An Bo Tai Chi' is the best else when comes to claiming & all those shxtties, you'll face quite a lot of problems unless it is a clear cut case whereby you are not in the wrong but the other party have had not better to be a foreign registered vehicle [:/]

thanks for the advice bros... just got a quote from the workshop. S$750 to repair the above mentioned damages. I know where the guy lives and he's gonna pay the amt... luckily this malaysian guy quite honest, willing to settle upfront. If not, can kiss the S$750 goodbye man... [sweatdrop]

My condolences.

 

1. Just hope that the person driving the Proton is a Saint or an angel

 

otherwise once he cross the causeway you wont see him forever .... poof....
