RadX Moderator April 17, 2003 Share April 17, 2003 (edited) Anytime......but it is a personal pref....another note however, the T5 brakes, IMHO I find do not bite too well and is 'sarspect'...on certain occasions in comparison to the Merc....nevertheless, great ride.... Someone told me that the brakes on ALL the major contis are made by the same company! Is this true??? Edited April 17, 2003 by E46RadX

Nast4 Neutral Newbie April 17, 2003 Share April 17, 2003 Yes it boils down to personal pref. I happen to be in a happy position where I get to compare my two friends' newly acquired cars - a 520 vs E200. I like the brakes of the E39 way better but thought I could be bias...actually I like all of the E39 I haven't heard conti cars' brakes are done by same OEM. Instead heard the same claim for their steering and autotranny. I wouldn't know better tho

Jgoh Neutral Newbie April 17, 2003 Share April 17, 2003 [reply] P/S : May not want to wait for new BM5. ...maybe just a thought to consider: The E200/E240 is at the beginning of its model run, whereas the current Series 5 is on its way out! Depreciation-wise, say three years from now, its going to make a difference if your car is the current series or the 'old' series. Just my 2 cents... Jgoh Neutral Newbie April 17, 2003 Share April 17, 2003 You know how I similarly feel about Chris Bangle... But, I still can't get the BMW engineering out of my butt. Doc/Stick, you probably remember my previous posts about how much I 'enjoyed' my BMW, but was frustrated with its reliability. Now, we're probably just frustrated with Chris Bangle... But like I said earlier, my backside is still itching to get back into a BMW seat. Since the E60's styling is not as severe as the new 7 series, I'm just giving it a little time to see if the design would 'grow' on me... Here's hoping, with fingers crossed! Madarmour Neutral Newbie April 18, 2003 Share April 18, 2003 A BM owner would probably prefer to drive the car themself while a MB owner might want to be chauffered......... IMO, BMW, even with all the techno-wizadry, still make their car a driver's car.

Assassin Clutched April 18, 2003 Share April 18, 2003 Agree with you on that ! It's a matter of whether you want to drive a car or be driven in one. Personally I would go for a driver's car.
Jgoh Neutral Newbie April 18, 2003 Share April 18, 2003 I must say that the new MB models are much more a driver's car than before. I especially like the Sports Coupe (based on the C class) and the new E Class. Its just that the new kompressor engines are so 'rough' around the edges. I'm sure they'll improve in time. But so far, still not close enough to the BMWs for a rewarding drive. Hope the new 5 series doesn't go 'soft'! ↡ Advertisement
