Yes it boils down to personal pref. I happen to be in a happy position where I get to compare my two friends' newly acquired cars - a 520 vs E200. I like the brakes of the E39 way better but thought I could be bias...actually I like all of the E39 [nod][thumbsup]

I haven't heard conti cars' brakes are done by same OEM. Instead heard the same claim for their steering and autotranny. I wouldn't know better tho [:/]

P/S : May not want to wait for new BM5.

...maybe just a thought to consider: The E200/E240 is at the beginning of its model run, whereas the current Series 5 is on its way out! Depreciation-wise, say three years from now, its going to make a difference if your car is the current series or the 'old' series. Just my 2 cents...

You know how I similarly feel about Chris Bangle... But, I still can't get the BMW engineering out of my butt. Doc/Stick, you probably remember my previous posts about how much I 'enjoyed' my BMW, but was frustrated with its reliability. Now, we're probably just frustrated with Chris Bangle...

But like I said earlier, my backside is still itching to get back into a BMW seat. Since the E60's styling is not as severe as the new 7 series, I'm just giving it a little time to see if the design would 'grow' on me... Here's hoping, with fingers crossed! sweatdrop.gif

A BM owner would probably prefer to drive the car themself while a MB owner might want to be chauffered......... IMO, BMW, even with all the techno-wizadry, still make their car a driver's car.

Agree with you on that ! nod.gif It's a matter of whether you want to drive a car or be driven in one. tongue.gif

Personally I would go for a driver's car. wink.gif

I must say that the new MB models are much more a driver's car than before. I especially like the Sports Coupe (based on the C class) and the new E Class. Its just that the new kompressor engines are so 'rough' around the edges. I'm sure they'll improve in time. But so far, still not close enough to the BMWs for a rewarding drive. Hope the new 5 series doesn't go 'soft'!
