Assassin Clutched August 9, 2005 Share August 9, 2005 Hi PTan, The servicing costs can vary depending on the model that one drives. Same for parts. Good to hear that you receive good service from Merc. I do too. Cheers ↡ Advertisement

BMW320i Neutral Newbie September 12, 2005 Share September 12, 2005 Hi PTan, The servicing costs can vary depending on the model that one drives. Same for parts. Good to hear that you receive good service from Merc. I do too. Cheers Speaking of spare parts, The drive by wire accelerator pedal unit on the S Class cost a whooping $6000. I still have it on display in at home. That leads me to wonder what happens if the suspension fails because they Ss are running on air suspension and a simple coilover swap just doesn't do it. Nine_eleven 2nd Gear September 12, 2005 Share September 12, 2005 a full replacement of the S Class' air suspension costs just under S$10k... and thats the quote by an outside workshop!! not even C&C.... i was there when they were replacing it... wonder what air they use inside the suspsension... hahahah
BMW320i Neutral Newbie September 12, 2005 Share September 12, 2005 Ouch ... So far only experienced 1 failure. Apparently they have a fail safe system. What happened was that the car no longer jack up itself upon engine start up so bascially it was running on default set up. Not as comfortable when the system was active but at least it the ride comfort doesn't turn into a DBR9. But I'll have to agree Merc's done a good job. Its 1 of those cars that makes you think your doing 90 when actual is 140kph.
Assassin Clutched September 12, 2005 Share September 12, 2005 You have a drive by wire accelerator pedal unit display at home ? The air suspension ? Should be around S$15K+
BMW320i Neutral Newbie September 13, 2005 Share September 13, 2005 Ya. Its your typical Accelerator pedal but slightly bulky as the control unit is located at the base of the pedal. Apparently the acceleration felt a little lethargic. So C&C "suspected" it was the entire DBW accel. pedal unit. Burned $6k. Acceleration still felt lethargic. Turns out to be a faulty AFM Unit. After touching down in Singapore my father showed me the Accel. Pedal and said $6k. Immediately got the hint. Air suspension malfunctioned once. But in default mode it just rides like your typical coilovers. Slightly stiffer then usual. Upon engine start up it doesn't jack up the car like it used to so ride height is lower. More rice. Suxelis Neutral Newbie August 27, 2006 Share August 27, 2006 If one is not eurocentric and quite objective, then do try out the Lexus GS300 before you decide. It has a few qualities to offer too. You may be pleasantly surprised, if you put 'brand' aside. ↡ Advertisement
