With true blue flat engine the pistons are horizontally opposed which gives a little less friction on the cylinders when working and because the engine is flat gives a lower centre of gravity and better handling.. much more stable at high revs and sound like something a real man would own ...

Turbocharged
If you do google serch in US market, you can find that CX7 is priced the same or near Subaru Forester XT.

In SG, Forester XT is priced 20k below CX7, I bought Forester XT for its Safety ring cage design similar to its rally bred WRX and its FUN factor as it combines excellent performance(virtually no turbo lag),sharp handling, versatility all in a value for money package. The giant sunroof was an extra bonus too. I drove it near 200kmh in NS highway and it can still go further and I have no problem in negotiating bend at high speed due to its inherent low CG. Never mind about MI as there are good workshop around. I owned Harrier in 2000 and I had problem going bend at 120kmh in MY east coast. As one overseas reviewer put it, the only SUV that can overtake Forester XT is the Porsche Cayenne turbo. Even the non-turbo cayenne can't do it.

Please test drive the vehicles to the limit(But drive safely) to see the performance to avoid making costly mistake . If look is one strong deciding factor, then go for CX7 or Santafe.

i have to totally agree with you about the performance of the Forester XT, no horse run. i have test driven it, almost got addicted to it. however the cons of the Forester is the extremely small cabin. Otherwise, definitely a buy for me.

Hi All gurus expertise bros, Bro in Law is looking for a SUV, need expert advise on these 3 SUV models. Personnally I have a biased heart towards Mazda CX-7, love the shape and spirit of a sports car and having the utility of a SUV.

But I think to have a fairer comparison, its wise to seek expert advise here as I think the other 2 models have its charm too.

the back profile of cx-7 is similar to rx 350. Nice. [flowerface]

No lah. I was saying the 2.3l cx7 and comparing with the 2.5l lgt. Probably, my message not clearly worded. LGT only 2.5l

My point was that lgt 2.5l only 5AT, vs the 2.3l cx7 which has a 2.3l and 6AT. CX7 is cheaper than the 2.5l lgt, in terms of road tax and the car cost.

Bro,

Read chiasin's post. Subarus have low CGs and the handling is something that you have to try to believe. In Singapore, AWD is not a must to have. If transport is the only thing you want (ie travel between places only), a low cost korean or jap car will suffice.

Subaru is about drive feel and drive experience. Good cornering and handling, for all weather. Especially, if you are the sort who likes to floor the pedal once in a while at the traffic light, the traction on the road is unparalleled. You won't find the wheels skidding or spinning without the car moving. Spinning wheels at the start point translates to power lost. You are unlikely to find yourself flying off a bend, in a subaru.

Its an amazing drive. Compared with the regular jap cars. My only complain is .... the AD markup. [dead] A SE from MI was saying, once you are used to an AWD, its hard to move back to a FF. Of course, FF with LSD might be a different story, but not all FFs come with LSD.

Best if you go test drive both cars. And I mean really test it out.......

Throw it into corners, floor the pdeal to see how's the acceleration, floor the pedal at about 90km/h to see the acceleration on mid range, test the brakes, do winding roads, etc....

Forget about all the technical and marketing terms.... end of it all is whether you like the handling and feel...

Does anyone know how much more "life" the current generation of Murano is expected to have? I know it was launched in the US in 2002... so the new Murano should hit our Spore streets pretty soon?

I am 1.7 meter tall and have to lower my head when entering Murano's driver seat. This is a big turn off for me.

Harrier or RX 300 has one of the best seating position which makes driving long distance a piece of cake perfect for NS highway but not for winding roads in east coast of MY.

CX-7 interior looks good but material may not last.

Subaru XT's MOMO steering is excellent for both holding and handling.

i agree to some extent. i had the chance to drive the Murano as my wedding car.. i didn't feel comfortable with the driving position at all.

but overall its still a quiet and beautiful car.

i tested both recently. almost signed up for the cx7 for its great looks and cool factor but i'm a big guy and the cx7 felt cramped up front and had less headroom than the XT which has sacrificed some looks for the boxy shape high roof. headroom in the rear of the cx7 also not very good but legroom better than XT.

both are nice to drive with turbos kicking in at relatively low rpms. i tried to push both hard and I preferred the forester's oomph! yes the cx7 has traction control but the XT has awd.....i'm not sure the cx7 has fulltime awd.

end of the day.......the XT has a 1.5x sunroof, cruise control and a really mod-able engine.........add to that the price difference and the practical side of me won.

go test drive both and go with your heart or wallet as in my case....hehe....

I was travelling on East Coast MY in Nov 2006 at 100-110km/h. The only cars that zoom past me like a wind was a MY reg Harrier n Mit Storm!!!
