Cklasse 1st Gear December 18, 2006 Share December 18, 2006 There is one SUV that seems to be forgotten by all - the Honda CRV. I went with my brother for a test drive in the new 2.4l version and found it to be a competent (or good compromise) SUV in terms of performance and price. It has adequate power (though not as much as the CX7) and a 5 speed auto which makes driving in Singapore road efficient. The only dislike in the new CRV is the plasticky door handle. It would be good to wrap the handles with leather. ↡ Advertisement

Peekay Neutral Newbie March 8, 2007 Share March 8, 2007 Hi All, I am about to book a Murano 2.5A. Although there weren't any bad reviews about the Murano so far, I noticed there were quite a few of them sold by used cars dealers, and almost all of them have done less than 20,000km!!! I am very curious if there are actually any issues with the murano... don't want to regret later. Any advice from Murano owners or anybody else out there? Thanks

Mobilio Neutral Newbie March 8, 2007 Share March 8, 2007 Now you are talking Santa Fe is another one thats very value for money. I do not have a korean before but my friend who has a getz says its not too cool on FC. Also, except in Singapore, Korean makes are ranked almost on par with Jap and even ahead of some American makes in terms of reliability. If I remember correctly, Hyundai has the best warranty package in the market for the largest automobile market in the world. Also, if comparing Tribeca and RX350, its pretty close. Thats why I took the largest spread as an example. If I have to make a choice among the 3, it will be the CX7. If not, it will be Subaru Forester for sure for a SUV . If you do google serch in US market, you can find that CX7 is priced the same or near Subaru Forester XT. In SG, Forester XT is priced 20k below CX7, I bought Forester XT for its Safety ring cage design similar to its rally bred WRX and its FUN factor as it combines excellent performance(virtually no turbo lag),sharp handling, versatility all in a value for money package. The giant sunroof was an extra bonus too. I drove it near 200kmh in NS highway and it can still go further and I have no problem in negotiating bend at high speed due to its inherent low CG. Never mind about MI as there are good workshop around. I owned Harrier in 2000 and I had problem going bend at 120kmh in MY east coast. As one overseas reviewer put it, the only SUV that can overtake Forester XT is the Porsche Cayenne turbo. Even the non-turbo cayenne can't do it. Please test drive the vehicles to the limit(But drive safely) to see the performance to avoid making costly mistake . If look is one strong deciding factor, then go for CX7 or Santafe. Dlar2 Neutral Newbie March 8, 2007 Share March 8, 2007 If only given the 3 choices, I will pick CX-7 follow by Tribeca. SUV usually have a higher stance then normal sedan, therefore handling is very very important (unless you don't treasure your life). CX-7 is low and nicely design, drive it and you would know what I mean. Have some respect for Mazda's handling of their cars. Tribeca is also a good choice but it is a lot more costly (at least for me) and you also end up paying higher road tax. Handling of an AWD is also good. Murano, I personally don't like the interior. Speedometer looks like it is plug from somewhere and then just stuck it there.... The above are my personal opinion, no offense to anyone.
Mobilio Neutral Newbie March 8, 2007 Share March 8, 2007 (edited) I am 1.7 meter tall and have to lower my head when entering Murano's driver seat. This is a big turn off for me. Harrier or RX 300 has one of the best seating position which makes driving long distance a piece of cake perfect for NS highway but not for winding roads in east coast of MY. CX-7 interior looks good but material may not last. Subaru XT's MOMO steering is excellent for both holding and handling. Chiasin Neutral Newbie March 8, 2007 Share March 8, 2007 Hi All gurus expertise bros, Bro in Law is looking for a SUV, need expert advise on these 3 SUV models. Personnally I have a biased heart towards Mazda CX-7, love the shape and spirit of a sports car and having the utility of a SUV. But I think to have a fairer comparison, its wise to seek expert advise here as I think the other 2 models have its charm too. Vesfreq Neutral Newbie March 8, 2007 Share March 8, 2007 CX7 boxy or not, its a matter of personal taste. The cx7 headlights are not bad, resembles the rx-8 lights. It looks good and doesn't have those disturbing (and yet) protrubing curves like some other rides. Best of all, the cx7 is bang for buck. Cheaper than the legacy GT. 2.3litre turbo and somemore 6AT, unlike the LGT which is only 5AT. Having said that LGT and cx7 different class of cars. Again, point is compared with other rides, the package is value for money, IMO. Road tax doesn't kill, like the bigger Tribeca.
Dlar2 Neutral Newbie March 8, 2007 Share March 8, 2007 saw the video before, quite bias and lean towards subaru. Imagine how CX7 will perform?? by the way how often do we travel in that kind of road? 30 degrees slop? snow condition?
