Hi fellow carforummers,

Will u ask for a price adjustment when your actual OMV is lower by 2k as promised on sales contract?

I intend to get the dealer to adjust the price accordingly but just want to hear some feedback from you guys.

If it is stated in sales contract then i think should be able to do so. But this is first time i hear such case...would like to know what the dealer have to say.

A drop of $2k omv is equivalent to a $4700 drop in selling price!

$2000 x 2.35 = $4700

That's certainly not an amount most of us can ignore!

OMV is not life and death right? but of cos this is a glaring mistake. talk to them nicely see what they hv to say for themselves, and come to terms with them. dun b agitated... just remember u can reserve ur rights. but certainly the amt is not sufficient to goto court.

i suggest u meet with them face to face then end up arguing over the fone.

It's certainly not life and death but it's an amount equivalent to over 6% of your purchase price which I dont think most people should ignore! [laugh]

I did not and will not argue with them on this. I only need a way to settle this!

Let me explain simply why the 2k drop in OMV can translate close to 5k off the selling price...

For example, if OMV is 24k...

24k x 2.35 + 12500(COE) + profit margin = 80k (selling price)

agent profit is $11100

but if OMV drops to only 22k..this is what will happen...

22k x 2.35 + 12500 + profit margin = 80k

agent profit has now ballooned from $11100 to $15800!!!!

if keep agent's profit constant at $11100 then the selling price of the car with 22k OMV should only be $75300 and not $80k!

increase in agent's profit = more loss in car value when we sell the car in future! [thumbsdown]

Apollo, I hope u can see why there's a need to address this now. [:)]

Anyway, tks for the feedback!

Hahahaha...u are absolutely right! They did say that but unfortunately they are dealing with someone from the fx market. I can even tell them what's the rate if they can provide me the date.

A drop of over 8% on JPY versus SGD in 2 months was certainly not the case for the last few months!

It depends on make and model. As a rough guide, Toyota is lower if not the lowest for Japanese make. BMW is so for the conti make.

Pls use the following as an indicative guide for profit margin.

OMV x 2.35 + COE + margin = selling price
