For those who know how to calculate the over cost will discover something, whether is $101,$10001 or $50001, the higher it goes the higher mark up by dealer and higher interest to the bank. Nowadays lesser ppl r interested in the $$ take back after scrap, the lesser the cost of a car is better in many ways. Those with high COE already exported , and dealers are the only one try to smoke ppl on high parf and high COE cos these are the cars left in their warehouse waiting to export and they are lossing big $$.

u are sayin pple less interested in $$ take back after scrap but banks do and banks wont want to lose $$ if you default and with market are not in favour for older cars...

like i said unless you got lots of $$ to buy these low coe $$, if not banks are not willing to loan you, you cant buy the car..

cars with high coe, its hotter for dealer to sell even if they have low markup on the ride, they get commission from the banks...ask buyer to get high loan and benefit from it..low deposit needed, more buyers tempted and fall into the trick and sink... [shakehead]

Many ppl got stuck with the high loan thing, anyway not many $101 COE car around. Dun think the bank dun want the business, more like the dealer making up story.

oh bro no...the bank want secured biz not biz where there high risk...if you wan buy such a low coe value car, they will do valuation on how much u are putting down the deposit...they are more willing to loan u minimum where if u default the car can be sold with minimum losses and this applies to low paper value not pertains to only $101 coe cars.. but on the dealer side, since it cant earn commission from the bank, the will do high markup on these cars..vice versa low markup with high coe cars..

all in all, there no so call cheap or not..have to be a balance of all stuff - which is veri subjective and judgemental for individual... [;)]

Will be scrapping my $101 COE car next week.

Its been a good 5.5 years, at <$5k per year depreciation. :)

"Maintenance free mode" for the last 1 year. No servicing, etc.
