New Dino should be powered with all aluminum 4.2 liter 90 degree V8 outputting not very boring 480hp. This V-shaped powerplant will be mounted in front of the car, opposing to the mid-engine configuration in the classical supercar from late sixties and early seventies of the previous century.

New supercar should make it first major public appearance at some international motor show in 2009. Ferrari plans to manufacture from 3.5 to 5 thousand cars per year that should begin competing with Porsche 911 Turbo and Aston Martin V8 Vantage with a price tag from 82 to 90 thousand Euros (about 109 to 120 thousand US Dollars) in 2010.

It looks a lot like a Porsche doesn't it? Well, I guess since this Ferrari is positioned against Porsche 911s, they thought it wise to make it resemble their German counterparts. [laugh]

No la. I meant affordable by "affordable".

Cos Ferrari is taking the 420 Dino to battle against the 911 Turbo and Aston Martin V8 Vantage. So the AM V8 Vantage for instance costs around 400,000+ in Singapore (including COE).

So since the Ferrari 420 Dino is competing head-on against these cars it'd be priced between 400,000 and 500,000; making it the most affordable Ferrari by far - as the current "entry-level" Ferrari is the F430, which would set you back close to 740,000+ on our shores.

Hence the Ferrari 420 Dino would be the most "affordable" Ferrari. But we'll have to wait about four years for it. So let's all starting saving. Hahaha. [laugh]

Oh yea, one more picture:

Okay, before anyone points it out, I'd better do it first.

I know it looks a lot like the Porsche Cayman. Well that's cause the picture (particularly the picture of a scanned mag page) is a heavily photoshopped image.

It is true (so far) that Ferrari has "okayed" a low-entry-level Ferrari that'll compete against Porsche 911 Turbo BUT it MAY not look like the posted pictures.

I just wanted to say this cos my continued research on the 420 Dino turned up some forums saying that the pictures are derived from a CG-ed Porsche Cayman wallpaper. Still, this is the way car spy shots work and car enthusiasts like us can only hope and try not to be duped on the way.

So far i was but duped for about 30 minutes before i started writing this post. So read and view the delicious pictures with great suspicion. :)

the pictures look too cayman-ish like you mentioned...

Pininfarina wouldn't be caught dead using existing design cues unless it was allowed to by Ferrari themselves... let alone copying other company's design!

Ferrari has never done any retro theme car like the Ford GT or Lambo Miura, coz they're too forward thinking to take steps back... they'll look back, but surely move forward...

the small upcoming Ferrari would surely look nothing like anything Ferrari has seen...
