I hope they will put in a brand new engine.

Those engine used in current model are a real disappointment. They look so old like the engine of Proton Saga.

Even the Korean made engine looks much more better.

I went to Ubi showroom last week....i was told by the SE that the new model is coming in June 2007 and it will come with DOHC and it will be 1.8 only [:(] the current Lancer is SOHC.

Wa.... [sweatdrop] Think this is expected, cos' the car does look heavier. But, 1.8 still ok lah, in terms of road tax. Just pray cat B don't climb too much. Read from somewhere that the new lancer will come with mivec engine. [:)] Sharky mouth. lol.

The current lancer engine, according to my m'sia techie, is what they use in a waja (or saga). Disappointing, but at least don't drink petrol. [:)]

Btw, don't think they will use old engine. Read from www.worldcarfans.com that the new lancer will be a mivec engine 2.0l. But, the other guy in this thread said its going to be a 1.8l.

Whichever it is, hope the local Lancer will be a mivec, not the dino sohc.

If got 1.6, hope it won't be underpowered. [sweatdrop] According to worldcarfans.com, the car is broader, yet shorter (correct me if I'm wrong).

The new look is a tremendous departure from the current lancer.

Lexus is a prettier looking car than this. The front and the rear has a little trace of Peugot especially the head & taillight portion. IMO, design-wise not a successful breakthrough.
