Ultramega 1st Gear August 20, 2007 Share August 20, 2007 My infantry unit used it as a concentration area last time. Those in infantry battalions will understand what I mean by that. We call that area "Lentor" because it's near Lentor Avenue. Yah... it's lots of trees in there... but under the foliage, surprisingly there are lots of space for vehicle maneuvre. That makes it a good choice for concentration. Eh... better not say too much in case this is "classified" But it's not so scary in there during the day. At night it's dark because no street lamps and trees everywhere. i used to train there too. there was once i chose the my campsite right next to a durian tree. while my team was doing our usual work, "toom toom" 2 durians dropped and kind of rolled towards us. haha we were damn happy. threw all our work aside and started eating durians... now after reading this thread i wonder why the durians rolled TOWARDS us. ↡ Advertisement

Stary Turbocharged August 21, 2007 Share August 21, 2007 I find Upp Thomson Rd more eerie, the stretch between YCK to around Mandai....more trees This one I can testify. Personally witness something there before. Now I try to avoid that road if I can.

Dwoon 1st Gear August 21, 2007 Share August 21, 2007 I actually find that stretch of Upper Thomson Road rather nice. Especially on a misty night/morning with no cars...... with the trees from both sides of the road forming a canopy to shelter the entire road.... somewhat like a tunnel..... it makes the stretch feel "enchanted". Wifey felt eerie about it initially.... but after I explained the beauty of it.... she too appreciates it now. As for the "dirty" things, not that I know of for this stretch. But the old upper thomson road running inside the forested area, my wife has encountered something at the end of the road leading to the reservoir. Viviobluerex Clutched August 21, 2007 Share August 21, 2007 I used to work at TechPoint and use that junction almost everyday last time. Got many accidents before. Many cyclist got killed during my 2 year there. http://kcarclubsg1975.spaces.live.com/
Chickenfarm Turbocharged August 21, 2007 Share August 21, 2007 Better yet...no durian tree but durian drop
Kxbc Turbocharged August 21, 2007 Share August 21, 2007 I like that stretch of road, mainly because of the trees shading the whole road. Best effect is Sun morning around 7 - 8am with few cars, HU off, aircon off and windows down. Can enjoy the fresh smell of the trees. Bad thing is: wide and straight road, few cars, speed limit 70km/hr and sometimes TP around. Drive faster also must take note.

Dwoon 1st Gear August 21, 2007 Share August 21, 2007 Yah... speed limit is only 70km/h. But when I'm taking in the scenery, I don't go fast. Usually only about 50km/h. The time I go fast along that stretch is when there is traffic. The lanes are rather narrow at certain sections, so I'll go faster to be ahead and avoid having to drive so close to the vehicles on the next lane. Chickenfarm Turbocharged August 21, 2007 Share August 21, 2007 Talking abt. tyres and army...I've ever seen a landrover stop at a traffic junction when one of its front tyre suddenly came off. The funny part is when the SAF driver alight from the vehicle to run after the rolling tyre

Porker Turbocharged August 7, 2008 Share August 7, 2008 Bump this old thread up. Not sure if the road is haunted but I just went for a solo drive at Old Choa Chu Kang Rd. This road leads to entrance of Poyan Range and is flanked by Choa Chu Kang Chinese Cemetery and the Muslim Cemetery. I didn't catch 'anyone' along the way but its farking creepy looking into the chinese cemetery while driving along. And it was raining and at about 11+pm... Go and try it if you're curious enough ↡ Advertisement
