Hi All,

Would like to know whats in your Octy... to improve performance while maintaining comfort..

 

1. Tyres

2. Spark plug and spark cable

3. Air Filter

4. Exhaust

5. Any others....

Got a Classic very basic. The main thing about the car is the sound insulation for comfort, added the arm rest sold to me by Skodee.

The item you listed exist in all cars. You mean things that are non-stock or additional mod?

1 . Tyres - Can be peformance and comfort, u do the pick

 

2. Spark Plug and spark cable - only peromance gain, nothing to do with comfort

 

3. Air filter - A good simple upgrade, good for air intake, a bit loud when sucking air, comfort down

 

4. Exhaust - ha, no more comfort, loud loud bang bang exhaust, the backseat guy is suffering...but there are good exhaust that is quite, but then what the point of changing the original one?

There are 3 ways to improve the sound insulation, from the wheel arc or mudguard, door and buldhead/flooring. I did not get what you meant by "That would be fab!".

Yes, absolutely. Am scheduling to do that soon. The car is aging at a horrible rate, and the sound proofing is the first sign.

 

Do not know about your Superb, however, it should be quite similar except the boot. Hope the pictures help.

wow bro! You da man! Thanks for the fantastic clear illustrations! So some kind of insulation material (similar to those audio sound proofing material I use in my voice recording work i presume) can be added?

For the Wheel Arc is using Bitumen coating, flooring/bulkhead and part of the door is what you have said, as for the door joints you should use strips.

The cheapest MODs are earplugs...unless it's those Sennheissers..

haha..tell me abt it! was wearing those yesteday when the Mirages 3K came in. Not as noisy as e F5 s though..no stage 3 lar!

Do note that sound proofing your car would add additional weight to it as well... and I really mean ALOT of additional weight

It doesn't matter to me actually. The car has no power and noisy, least I have some quiet. Glad that I do not have large rims/tyres to further load it.

Just my point of view here...

 

1. Tyres, wider ones give more stability when cornering, but the bigger they are, the more expensive and heavier they will be - better handling at the expense of $ and performance

 

2. Spark Plug and spark cables - Useless IMO, gains are minimal or non existant

 

3. Air filter - Paper filters are good enough, read the various writeups on filter comparisons here ...

 

4. Exhaust - Minimal gains if your car is NA, better if your car is tc-ed

 

Just IMHO
