Current Setup

Front-door speakers - powered from 4-channel amp

Back-door speakers - powered from HU

Sub - powered from 4-channel amp

 

 

Proposed Setup

Front-door speakers - powered from 4-channel amp

Back-door speakers - powered from 4-channel amp

Sub - powered from sub-woofer output direct from HU

 

Hi all, my HU has broken down. So thought of getting a higher-powered HU with the ability to drive my sub. Thought of re-wiring it to the proposed setup. Is a high-powered HU capable enough to drive the sub? Would it be better to re-wire or leave it as the current setup?

Some HUs does come with a sub output. Is that output meant to power a sub?

HU cannot drive sub...

 

HU's only have a sub output for u to output signal to the amp which controls the sub.

 

my opinion is to keep to ur current setup as HUs will confirm not have enough juice to physically power a subwoofer.

Whats the difference between pre-outs and speakers out? Is it better to output by pre-out or speakers out?

Wah nv heard of a HU that can power a sub leh...

 

Any lao jiao can intro???

 

If want to drive a sub with the HU, maybe only can drive a 5" one...

 

But then again.... 50w???? driving a sub?????
