Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 12, 2003 Share April 12, 2003 Regarding the fuel consumption, 10km-11km is a bit high but I find it is ok as the car is heavy and stable so of course fuel consumption is high! But at least the car is safe and steady as it has thick car body structure and thick bumpers so when accident (touch wood lah), it will be safe compared to Japanese cars as they uses thin metal for body frame structure! Fulcrum Clutched April 14, 2003 Share April 14, 2003 yeh....its the truth..like wira...previously some ppl said that wira engine is unreliable n had a lot of other nonsense things about wira,made in M'sia,no gd lah.now u c a lot of ppl driving wira n other proton cars,including some ah bengs.(no offence) Proton is cheap what , easy to service and repair in m'sia even if broke. But it IS unreliable; owned it twice by my aunt, never fails to disappoint her so she called it Proton Gila(Wira) and ben4 dan4 sa3 gua1 (Proton Saga)! Bought it Jan 2001, during that time, Sephia was going to be discontinued(to be replaced by Spectra), and the Rio just came in. Was deciding between Sephia and Rio at that time, but got Sephia instead. Reasons : 1)Rio's interior is cramp, and the interior design looks cheapo compared to Sephia. The Sephia has a cockpit similar to those in Saab cars 2)Sephia is surprisingly very very spacious. Even Civic no fight. 3)Although the Rio is a faster car, Sephia is a better-built car. It's been 2.5 years, and my Sephia's interior and engine/transmission, aircon, is still in tiptop condition, unlike some of my colleages's Accents(interior is super cheapo, not sure abt current model though) and Rios which have visited the workshops countless times. Well, just some general knowledge for you guys is that the Kia Sephia's are commonly used as Taxis in Korea, so the engine and mechanicals has to be reliable. As you can see, I'm very particular in the interiors, and one thing bad about Kia's is that its very noisy. The wind noise and road noise can drive me insane at times. Can't hear the engine noises at all though, coz, its been muffled by the wind/road noises. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rainbowsix Neutral Newbie May 1, 2003 Share May 1, 2003 I am trying hard to recall how a Kia Sephia looks like. Quite a rare sight in SG roads I must say. The Rio wheelbase is short and interior kindda grey and budget-feel but since it is one of the cheapest new cars around, cannot complain much really. The exterior does look rather sporty especially with the recent facelift. Even the jewel tail lamps look expensive. Actually, I find Civic interior one of the best cuz it has a flat floor while most cars have the usual tranny hump. Good for the middle passenger really. The pre-facelift Accent interior quite plasticky I must say, having driven it for a short while but I think the recent facelift one has improved on that. Sorry to hear about the noises u getting. Does it come on at high speeds or all the time? Maybe u can change to better tyres to reduce road noise and do some DIY sound insulation to cut down wind noise. As a last resort, u can always blast your ICE as I do to mask all the noises! Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
