Sparespares Neutral Newbie November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 For your info, I was in the car with my fellow Singaporean colleague driving in California. We were stopped by TP and tried to give excuse that we didn't know the speed limit of that street. Guess what? He say no excuse because at the beginning of the street got speed limit sign. So, kena fined for speeding in a big, no-car street without pre-warning in free and democatic USA. LL, no complains. ↡ Advertisement
Ronnie Neutral Newbie November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 (edited) not sure how it works for you... but i was trained to look out for signs (including speed limits) when I was taking driving courses in Australia and Singapore. Drivers basically cannot say "I don't know." IMHO, As drivers, one must know, including his/her car and surroundings, otherwise they are not fit to drive. Oz752 Neutral Newbie November 24, 2006 Share November 24, 2006 Why do one need to be alerted of speed traps? I have come across signs like TRAFFIC POLICE OPS IN PROGRESS, DRIVE SAFELY. This don't make sense. Are they trying to say that one will only slow down near the speed traps? Cheez, you need a nanny to remind you how to drive like an adult. Don't think too much. There are 2 options, either you are man enough to blaze past ALL THE WAY regardless of TPs or cameras and pay the price OR be a responsible & considerate driver who drives safely. Simple. People who fear speed traps, worry day and night over TPs hiding are real cowards.
Xefera 6th Gear November 27, 2006 Share November 27, 2006 (edited) agreed. perhaps TP should focus more attention on heavy vehicles drivers who often exceed the speed limit. I would consider them as being more dangerous than a speeding sedan. Imagine the impact of being crushed by one, not forgetting that the braking system in those trucks are not designed to handle braking at high speeds. in retrospect, i would rather the various agencies focus getting their revenues from offenders rather than siphoning from law-abiding citizens disclaimer : not that i am a model citizen, but rather than them coming up with ridiculous ways to "earn" my moonie Edited November 27, 2006 by Xefera
Maddude Neutral Newbie December 3, 2006 Share December 3, 2006 I second that, sometimes I had to reach 90Km/hr just to overtake freaking large lorries, pickups or vans in the second lane. Guess what, sometimes they are loaded with goods! I just want to "see" the traffic infront of me thats all..feel its safer this way even when travelling at 80 in 2nd lane. Don't understand why TP are not doing their job..
Guyver 1st Gear December 3, 2006 Share December 3, 2006 Quote Opinions anyone? From >> http://motoring.asiaone.com.sg/drivers/20050224_001.html Warning signs may also be put up on the roads to alert motorists ahead of speed traps. - Got anot ah? In addition, officers will wear white uniforms during the day and don vests with yellow reflectors at night, to make them more visible on the roads. - got time to see? Speeding kills - AGREE.. but if the roads that are prone to speeding should already be fixed with warning signs.. not mobile ppl in white hiding in bushes. Eg.. from >> http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_...ety_025918.hcsp Standard guidelines.. Just helping a pissed friend ask after being fined yet again for a speeding at 80km/hr. So far .... most of the recent accidents are caused ... not due to speeding but rather .... sudden braking or e-brake or turning at junction.
Nemo6089 1st Gear December 3, 2006 Share December 3, 2006 Traffic police are a extremely rare sight on the road nowadays. Lorrys, vans, buses all can speed and travel on lane 2 or 1 without any fear at all.

Pioneer 4th Gear December 10, 2006 Share December 10, 2006 I think is not about fast or slow driving cause accident. Both can cause accident, but try smashin ur car onto a pillar at 60km/h and 100km/h..... Driving slowly and recklessly cause accident too, but driving fast and recklessly cause accident and kills! See the difference bo? ↡ Advertisement
