with tuning companies like REVO, BSR, GIAC and the rest, you can easily get 240bhp from the 200bhp TFSI engine found in the golf GTI, without the need to even change the exhaust system at all.

but why when SEAT introduced the 240bhp Leon Cupra they they have to do all this?

The new 240 PS 2.0-litre T FSI engine has been considerably uprated compared with the Leon FR

In Germany, I had the chance to take a look at and drive a GTi which produce 350 PS with the stock engine but with a Chip-up, Exhaust mod, CAI with custom map from GIAC. The catch here is that they used 100 RON fuel.

So here's the official statement I got from VW for the GTi Mk5;

GIAC is a US tuning company, u saw that in Germany? dizzy.gif

But seriously i doubt 350hp (PS is Japan standard) without turbo upgrade quite impossible.

Yes they have GIAC as well even though it's marketed aggressively from USA. Besides the Lim guy is involved in the tunning there are many German tuners put-in work for the GIAC. These guys are mainly from VW, Porsche, Audi and BMW.

Yep true but the fact to take back is that the stock block can still take this power [cool]

In general, I'd say all VAG platforms are similar. The 1.8T / MT block in Golf Mk4 or Skoda Octavia, Seat, Audi, etc are built in such a manner the stock block can take quite a lot of power. [sly]
