Done 500+km with AutoRX, used fresh Chevron Supreme 10W30 and oil filter for better results.

I can see dislodged/dissolved sludge particles on the crankshaft and there are lots of tiny black particles being suspended in the oil as well. [sweatdrop]

Engine is a 2.5yrs old 2.3L Nissan V6 which has done mostly city driving, odometer is currently reading 41,109km.

If you cannot find Auto-rx, redline oil will work as well but it normally takes much longer. My buddy has solve his brown varnish problem in 3 OCI using just RL oil with normal 10k OCI.

hehe, arx still cheaper than using redline [:p]

thats extra $30 per oil change, 3 oil change, takes extra $90 bucks neh.

arx one bottle about $50-60, can use two applications for me [:)]

arx per application for me is $30(arx) + $18(oil) + $6(filter)

I think it's cheaper and hassle free in the long run as you do not need frequent short change interval (compare to Auto-rx) and reap the full benefit of RL protection, smoothness and power delivery.

Single 10k OCI with RL

$84(RL oil) + $6(oil filter) + $12 (labour) = $102

Double 3k OCI with mineral + auto-rx

$24(mineral oil) + $50 (auto-rx)+ $6(oil filter) + $12 (labour) =$92

$24(mineral oil) + $6(oil filter) + $12 (labour) =$42

Total= $134

$54(M1 oil)+ $6(oil filter) + $12 (labour)= $72

That is $134 for 6k auto-rx clean/rinse phase & $72 for another 10k oci.

That a total of $206

i got mine from a bro here, O2asis.

PM him. but i dunno if he still has it.

nice guy, and he even printed the instruction sheet for me

with a small bottle to measure the volume needed!!

[;)]

had a quick discussion with him on the application

he mentioned that to do it right, the manufacturer

actually recommend using Castro GTX oil.

well, i have yet to do my cleaning. cos waiting for

the next service then do it.

cheers

hehe, i see your point.

but for my case, i didn't do a fresh oil change for arx cleaning phrase. i drop in my existing oil when i've done 7k km. (ryan consulted someone, forgotten frank or terry, who mentioned that due to my regular use of LC, i didn't need to change a fresh oil filter) did a usual drain at 10k km, fill with mineral and filter, change again at 3k km, then back to my usual oil. so the extra expenses for me is only 1/2 bottle arx, 3qts mineral oil, 1x filter, 1x labour. [;)]

the cleaning phrase doesn't need mineral oil, its only the rinsing phrase.

i agree using redline for long term would reduce the hassle, but too ex neh, i travel 40k km a year, unless it can last 20k km in my oil chewing engine [laugh]

M1 was shot when i did 10k km (UOA).

maybe i should try M1 EP?

anyway let me use finish my stockpile of oils first [laugh]

using redline d4 atf now, its better than amsoil.. [thumbsup]

your analysis abit off liao la...

ARX requires short oil change during the cleaning and (if i remember correctly) rinsing phase, which means you got to change oil filter and oil early than you should. Furthermore, twice (clean and rinse phase). The amount add up to significant amount already.

If you do 2 application like me, the cost is quite significant leh.

so if do 2 application like u, then i guess use redline would be better, although i have my reserves on relying on redline alone to clean
