Garlic 1st Gear November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 I will check with Asiatic, I remember seeing such foam tape @ their office. Will update once I get a reply.
Garlic 1st Gear November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 Do you find it harder to close the door after applying the tape? Especially cars with factory fitted double insulation strip.
Alpha78 6th Gear November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 Bro, how much and where to get this tape? Does it reduce the wind noise? I noticed that my Latio tends to have audible wind noise at 80 to 90kmh, esp if I don't turn on the radio too loud. If it's a cheap and good solution I don't mind DIY. Corgan Neutral Newbie November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 is that my car? just for everyone's info, after the session went on expressway to test it out. Driving a latio and wind noise tends to seep in at speeds above 80 but this time round after the DIY taping, the wind noise only came in at speeds above 100 and even at speeds of 120, the noise reduction was very significant, for my case i would reckon it to be at least a reduction of 50%. for $10 and about twenty minutes of your time, its worth it. once again, thanks to Benny and Bro marcostan for organising this session. Learnt a lot of new stuff.
Alpha78 6th Gear November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 Where can we buy this foam tape? Seems to be a neat and simple way to reduce wind noise. If instead of foam we can find material similar to the rubber seals (hollow in the centre) I think the effect might be even better.
Georgecheng Neutral Newbie November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 This kind of foam tape will tend to be flaten after some time and lose the effect. Will be best if can able to get those rubber strip if can find.
Maddriver 4th Gear November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 his was already 1 1/2 years,so far no problem at all.Anyway is just $10 for the whole car
Georgecheng Neutral Newbie November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 Really, then can consider, maybe the foam tape i bought no good, half a year flatten and in the end waste time to take out etc.
Maddriver 4th Gear November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 that why after looking at Marcos's ride.We intend to give it a try
Georgecheng Neutral Newbie November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 Great sharing, do update me if you can get the brand and model of the tape. Thanks.
Nutty 4th Gear November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 After I've done the DIY, I went 100km/h on CTE and felt significant improvement to wind noise. The only drawback is that I had to ask my parents to close the doors harder when I brought them out for lunch. ↡ Advertisement
