Misleading FIAT Ad

Did you all see Sat's papers advertising the Fiat Panorama for S$39,800?

It got me excited and I approached the staff at the Motor Show. There was a red Fiat Panorama on display with the large words on its front windscreen - "S$39,800"

I was prepared to put a deposit on the spot & had brought my cheque book along.

But the salesman said that this price is applicable only after the S$18,000 cash rebate, ie. meaning I had to take a loan higher than the car price at exhorbitent interest rates. This was not mentioned at all on the windscreen display.

If I wanted to pay in cash, I would have to add an additional S$18,000, meaning the actual selling price of the Fiat Panorama 1.4 5 speed manual is S$57,800 ... NOT S$39,800

I condemn such dirty sales tactics - very misleading to the general public. [shakehead][shakehead][shakehead]

[thumbsdown][thumbsdown][thumbsdown]

saw quite a few of this type of ads also, but the price tag have an "*from " before it, on checking, this may means this price is for OPC cars after the 17K (or is it 18K?) OPC rebate.

S$39800 includes COE, BUT is after S$18,000 cashback... which means you have to take max loan at high interest rates.

Do you know the danger of cashback? It means you loan higher than your car sale price, to "loan" extra money to pay back what you owe the bank for the car that you just sold to buy the new Fiat.

which means the tie in is similar to the olden hyundai matrix days lar..you are tied in to a certain period of time before u can sell ur car..if not u got to pay back the rebate given.... [shakehead]

At least some distributors like C&C and even Parallel Importers like Koh Brothers specify with an asterick (*) in the ad that prices are after cash rebate or disccount.
