Vit4wd 1st Gear November 18, 2006 Share November 18, 2006 Did you all see Sat's papers advertising the Fiat Panorama for S$39,800? It got me excited and I approached the staff at the Motor Show. There was a red Fiat Panorama on display with the large words on its front windscreen - "S$39,800" I was prepared to put a deposit on the spot & had brought my cheque book along. But the salesman said that this price is applicable only after the S$18,000 cash rebate, ie. meaning I had to take a loan higher than the car price at exhorbitent interest rates. This was not mentioned at all on the windscreen display. If I wanted to pay in cash, I would have to add an additional S$18,000, meaning the actual selling price of the Fiat Panorama 1.4 5 speed manual is S$57,800 ... NOT S$39,800 I condemn such dirty sales tactics - very misleading to the general public. ↡ Advertisement

Vit4wd 1st Gear November 18, 2006 Author Share November 18, 2006 S$39800 includes COE, BUT is after S$18,000 cashback... which means you have to take max loan at high interest rates. Do you know the danger of cashback? It means you loan higher than your car sale price, to "loan" extra money to pay back what you owe the bank for the car that you just sold to buy the new Fiat. Normal_aspirated Clutched November 18, 2006 Share November 18, 2006 is still the same to me.......most SE will practise tat to "help" their customers to "make up" losses for their current rides. Still cheaper than using their credit cards or cash-lines which command very high interest.
Tanjkp Clutched November 18, 2006 Share November 18, 2006 Pardon if I could be wrong, since there is $18K rebate, so why need to add $18K when no loan taken. $18k rebate means cash go to U during delivery though taking $57.8k loan. So no reason to ask to add $18k. Like some AD put $xxk fin rebate, $xxk ins rebate ... then U need to pay more if no in-house fin & ins taken. Secondhand Neutral Newbie November 18, 2006 Share November 18, 2006 that's their gimmick lor. either add in the 18k to take out loan or u won't get the car at that particular price...

Ldawn88 2nd Gear November 19, 2006 Share November 19, 2006 ha...not ethical. dirty tactics. the aim is simply to upz the ppl (the volume) coming down to make enquiries. after that explain the sales schemes and quote you differently then phyco you to take the plunge. This becomes apparent when they do not put a clause or fine print in their advs. sound familar isn't it, like those 2nd hand car advertise $X. then when you go down there, they explain that $X is when you takes 80% loan and Y% interest rate . Kirin Neutral Newbie November 20, 2006 Share November 20, 2006 not ethical. that's the point. if everyone condone it by saying this is normal, then I think we have lost our decency as a society. maybe some BODY like CASE or it's equivalent in this case should make them sell the car at that price and you won't see this kind of ads anymore. ↡ Advertisement
