Japanese car engine is pretty efficient now so i dont quite doubt that figure even though it's a 2.4L!

Pls bear in mind that FC has to do with power to weight ratio too so a small engine in a large car will consume more fuel that a big engine on a big car!

hi mate, can your friend enlightened us how he achieved 12km/l or does he mean 12 litres/100km (which work out to be 8.3km/l)

unless his rav 4 is hybrid otherwise no way can achived 12km/l ...

Just collected my new rav4 a week ago and the first tank clocked 10.8km/l. I believed it should do around 12km/l when it's on synthetic after full run-in.

12km/L according to my friend!

impossible. ur friend will certainly tell u a "toyota" figure

bear in mind that the lexus 400H only can barely hit 12++km/litre at its best. It is a hybrid!!!

so a toyota rav4 at 12-13?

and vino, now u'r running in, u must be gently stepping on ur accelerator. so not really that fair judgement. after u run in then update us again ok? if still 12++ then i tink i'll change my picnic.

Being in the Rav4 Club, I know most members driving the 4.3 model is getting on an average of 11-12km/l. Do go to the Rav4 Expedition forum and check it out or you can also go for the weekly meetup and hear it from the horses mouth. :)

the FC for RAV is impressive!...the figures are true....from the 1.8 till current 2.4

the 1.8 achieve equivalent FC as a JAZZ...not blown up...

a friend own a RAV 1.8 achieve around 550km on a full tank

jazz do 450km on 39-40l......and both drivers tend to be on the faster side ones..

Hi Friendstar, u might not believed it but I do not deliberately step gentle on my accelerator. I read that it's no longer necessary to 'pamper' our car during the run-in period for new cars nowadays so I just drive as per normal. [:)]

Another thing to take note is that the car is on mineral oil now so after run-in period the mileage will be better with w20 or w30 synthetic oil. [thumbsup]

Lastly, CVT is fuel efficient technology!

My RPM is around 1600 to 1700 when travelling at 100km/h compared to my previous CRV which was above 2000RPM!

rav 4 despite being an suv do not have a kerb weight of those monster suv which are in the range between 1800-2000kg - if i am not wrong rav 4 kerb is about 1700kg which is almost same as those big sedan car in 1650 kg category. couple with the cvt tranmission -it definetly make the fuel consumption good. another suv that is light on fuel is mitsubishi highlander average clock about 9-10km/l. only downside is that we have to leave with the cvt - which it is abit retarded when changing gear.

rx 400 kerb weight is about 2050kg (due to the battery, rx 350 is about 1850kg) - thus with this weight 12km/l is consider toyota figure. but in reality i think rx 400 only do about 10km/litres according to some review in magazine.

Hi Santa, my FC has surprised me on my second tank! It hit 11.6km/l on mineral oil! [;)] I foresee mileage to improve further with full synthetic oil after 10k!

Hi Vino

How much do u pay for your RAV4?

I am driving the Rav 4.2 1800cc model and I am getting 10.5KM

per litre.

That should made sense to upgrade to the new RAV4

The price should be in the range of 77k to 83k depending on PI and OMV!

FC alone can't save u much IMO.

Having driven the CRV and now a RAV4, I found RAV4 is less spacious and has more blind spots! However, its FC is just great and power to weight ratio is good!
