Modeldriver Neutral Newbie April 7, 2003 Share April 7, 2003 Plonked in two Cyclone II exhaust units into my car yesterday, and the car gained a distinctively low sounding exhaust note especially when accelerating in mid RPM range. Sound is noticeable in the car, but when free revving and standing outside, doesn't seem so obvious (not like those who have really mod-ed exhaust systems). Any one else had such experience ? Or do I have some installation problem e.g. some leak or loose bits ? ↡ Advertisement

Modeldriver Neutral Newbie April 8, 2003 Author Share April 8, 2003 Supposed to improve the airflow going out of the engine - w/o an exhaust job (i.e. changing cat/exhaust pipe etc) - so technically it'll still be 'legal' since on the outside the exhaust is still stock. Problem is was too impatient/ambitious on Sunday - ended up putting to many things in at a go - upgraded the ignition cables, put in 4 pairs of Calksi, two bottles of CBMM, plus the two cyclones. End result - significantly noticeably better low end torque, smooth acceleration, readier revving up - previously had a bit of 'reluctance' below 3000 RPMs. Dunno the numerical net gain yet in torque/HP - probably need to go re-dyno the car. My other frens have equivalent stuff except the cyclone in exhaust, gains not so noticeable, so our guess is the cyclone does make a difference. Modeldriver Neutral Newbie April 8, 2003 Author Share April 8, 2003 Oh... btw - went back to McWell to check out the sound. No leak, told me the different note is to be expected as it changes the airflow in the exhaust.
