Well, do check out the condition of the car by either sending to STA for valuation or physical check through the interior and exterior. Also to make sure that there will not be any water leaking inside the boot and the driver side as well, as i got mine without checking and the boot can keep goldfish inside, while the driver side looks like waterfall when washing the car. Other than that, would base on test driving haha.

Why not just buy my ride. None of the problems terryy mentioned and well maintained.

hmm i'm not sure about AA, as i have only been to STA! but you could try out.

ask the seller to borrow a bucket fill with water and just splash it on the roof and boot to see if there's any waterfall or soaked fabric on the boot. If the driver side is just few droplet then its normal. but well, since leejwa is selling off his ride you could go and have a look!

Put a small downpayment n take a loan. Better investment. My omv is high. Many other copens on the market have underdeclared omv n you will end up overpaying.

STA valuation is lousy and waste of money. Go for Vicom. It's very vigorous and detailed. If you buy car from 2nd hand car dealer, most are ok to send for STA valuation but if you mention vicom, they wun like it especially when they know got some problem with the vehicle.

For buyer, save yourself the trouble, go for vicom

Anyway, I've just purchased a Copen. Any kind souls can share with me any experiences when owning the car? For example, I've heard that the turbo isn't very durable.

Who did you hear that from? Have had no problems with the turbo even with drives up north. Try turbo timer to give wee bit extra cooling to turbo before shut down. It is when ppl do not maintain their rides is when they have problems.

Last weekend I saw 3 copens (of different colours) in a convoy... expecting to see some nice gals driving to complete the picture. But I think it was some of the contributors here maybe with hair on their chests! :D

Heard once from some paint shop guy and also read about it in some forum. Dunnoe how true so trying to find out more. [confused] Maybe it's like you mentioned - poor maintenance. I really hope the small engine is hardy enough too. Anyway will try turbo timer. What about the rims offset? I'm hoping to find rims with a suitable offset that nicely flushes with the car's body. Sorry for the questions but It's such a hassle trying to get registered in the Copen Forum. [sweatdrop]

Recently got a Copen too, but I clicked to join the Facebook group Club Copen Singapore, and it is still under Pending status after weeks - not sure if it will ever accept o.O

Have some questions on it - since the Copen is rare and few in between in Singapore, is there a workshop in Singapore that is recommended to go to for servicing/spare parts?

Copen club sg will make you owning a copen feel like you are owning a super sports car like lambo or ferrari. So hard to join, so exclusive. Haha

I owned a copen for 1.5yrs few yrs ago. Fun car to drive. But severely underpowered and must drive very careful, put 20 airbags inside this tiny piece of metal also wun save your life if got accident.

but it is a fun car to drive. Definitely reliable, it is a jap car. So no fusses and worries.

Buying 2nd hand just remember to send in for vicom testing.

Might be worth waiting for the new copen to come out of japan

ya, it is quite underpowered, but it's after all only 660 cc, so I expected that. car already went for Vicom I think - so far it is quite reliable. and since I travel quite extensively everyday, the good fuel consumption doesn't hurt! :)

don't think my regular mechanic knows a lot about Copen, so I was thinking to either head to another mechanic who actually knows about it, or find out more from the Copen Club forum (which sadly I will never get to see) so I know exactly what to do for servicing.
