when i brought the Jazz back to KM for its first servicing, the guy ask if i want to get the anti-rust for the under-carriage. Want to ask all the experts here if it is worth the $$$. Think it is $230 or $320 can't rem... every servicing is $30... warranty for 10 yrs.

Any advice??? [:)]

All under-carriage should be anti-rust by default.

In the past for the older cars in the 70's are not, that is why you have Tuff Kolt. Now, cars do not need these.. if you don't feel good about it.. buy a can of Rubberized spray or High Temp spray and spray it yourself.

What KAH will do is spray the rubberise undercoat for you. Nothing special..

Dun let them earn your money! Do it on your own. When your car is in the garage for servicing, especially good if your garage has a hydro lift, give the undercarriage a good treatment on your own then for less than S$10/ bottle of spray depending on how many layers you need. I do my own after every trip into the jungle.

The spray can be used in areas where there is no extreme heat. Avoid areas like the whole exhaust system. You'll need to clean up the undercarriage as much as you can before the spray. Usually a good hose down will be sufficient. A scrub will come in handy for stubborn stains, and mud. It's readily available in auto accessories shop like Autobac and Homefix. Hope this is useful. Let me know if you have any problems.

HI Lester, Sorry for the stupid question coming up too... I'm just wondering, they will allow you to do your own spraying when send in for servicing?? If not, not possible to have a hydro lift right? Any advice? tongue.gif

Since you are paying for them to do the servicing, they are already earning that bit of money, I dun see the reason why there is any problem for another 10 mins or so on your on. Inform the garage that you'll be doing it after the servicing is done. If there is no water point allowable to the undercarriage, just spray over the grime and dirt. It has antirust properties so whatever moisture trapped within will be dissipated cos undercarriage paint is very porous. I'm thing of doing something more extreme as I get more road salt and mud and what ever there is in the jungle... I think I'll try bitumen on my undercarriage if I have a chance. Saw a can at Giant, I hesitated cos I'm worried it'll be difficult to apply. but after talking to a paint shop, they told me turpentine can help to make the solution less viscous and ease application. Anyone game?
