Ldawn88 2nd Gear November 7, 2006 Share November 7, 2006 that is why i used my butt to benchmark handling . as long as my butt does not have the floating feeling and the car does not have too much bodyroll while doing cornering... while i say that is my benchmark . ↡ Advertisement
Mojoe Neutral Newbie November 7, 2006 Share November 7, 2006 true... but butt benchmark depends on my age too... the older you get, the more layers you add
Ldawn88 2nd Gear November 7, 2006 Share November 7, 2006 hmmm maybe that is why those ah peks and uncles like to drive 'executive' cars . cos the layers on the butt grows with age .
Mojoe Neutral Newbie November 7, 2006 Share November 7, 2006 maybe... but by that theory, should be driving rexes... the natural layers can provide suspension mah, so car can be stiff

Arsenalguy Neutral Newbie November 7, 2006 Author Share November 7, 2006 PPL, i think they logged in the customers, so after all,i may not be able to change sales agent to one who can give me cash discounts. HONDA 1.6litre, the car sales person is giving me 5.3k for scrap car. 1k more than mazda. He said if i confirm the purchase, he will give me 1k discount on the spot. Its amazing, but seriously, honda 1.6litre at 70k is ridicious in today's prices. I like the ride, but i do not want to pay ridicious prices now. esp when Honda is likely to bring in the made in thailand civic during the face lift stage. Altis 52.5k deluxe package. Honda 70k, no bulit in radio also. Leather seats colour strange combi. So its actually 17k more expensive. Really alot of money.
Sony 1st Gear November 7, 2006 Share November 7, 2006 Eh.. manual or auto, it shd be the same engine.. only difference lies in the transmission mar.. (I'm referring to the 2 model asked by threadstarter) or am I wrong? Same engine, but coz of the transmission, different 'driving style'. Auto tends to maintain lower rpm than manual and more gradual gear change thus often quieter than a manual ride. Same thing as auto and manual, same engine, but why ppl always say manual more powerful? Not really.. Auto can drag as well and might not maintain low RPM. As for why manual is more powerful, it would be more correct to say that for Auto Tranny, the lose in power is greater
Sony 1st Gear November 7, 2006 Share November 7, 2006 altis handles ok, but the body roll is too much for me [my butt i mean] . Your "Ok" sure is generous... anyway, Altis is a nice car to drive if we just want a car to move around in Sg..

Icekitten Clutched November 8, 2006 Share November 8, 2006 Ya auto can drag too, but that's provided you purposely shift to Ds and drag. But I'm comparing normal driving circumstances btw an auto (in D) and manual car. If you compare an auto and manual of the same make and model, you'll find that at the same speed, the rpm of the manual is usually higher than the auto. If you drag an auto and a manual, the manual will be noisier too.
Zze121 3rd Gear November 8, 2006 Share November 8, 2006 Dun really like Mz3 handling, like very heavy. For Altis, can put strut bar, sway bar, better suspension, and bigger rim, then ride will be better in handling, and the feeling is alot different from stock. But for Mz 3, cannot change the VVT to VVTi, the look and the semi-auto transimittion are the selling point. Wonder if put a 14" rim on Mz 3 what will it feel like? I think it is not fair to compare both car on different setup on stock condition. look for thing that can be change on the ride.
Sony 1st Gear November 8, 2006 Share November 8, 2006 Depends.. but usually for auto, it's 4sp and manual is 5sp.. so you can't compare as some of the gear ratio is space out. Frankly, the noise is the same.. It's how you drive it and at which gear.
Icekitten Clutched November 8, 2006 Share November 8, 2006 But the SE was saying that he is used to driving a manual car that's why the (auto) engine sounds noisier. Unless he set the gear to Ds and rammed, kind of improbable that this is true right? This is what I was saying.
Keithpapa Neutral Newbie November 8, 2006 Share November 8, 2006 I thought manual engine supp to be noisier than auto? How can be you feel engine loud coz used to manual? I also heard that Mazda FC is bad...but but but btw Mazda 3 and Altis, I'll still go for Mazda 3. No offence meant to Altis owners, but it's a little too ah pek for my liking. Altis is a bit "ah pek" and that is a fact. No offence taken. M3 is too thirsty for my liking. I will go for Altis. Happily driving so far. ↡ Advertisement
