Trex101 3rd Gear November 2, 2006 Share November 2, 2006 Denso IK though very good in ignitability but lack the durability due to super fine centre electrode of 0.4mm were not last >40k km. Newcar 1st Gear November 3, 2006 Share November 3, 2006 Hi, Just to share info from my eyes... Saw so called new Platinium Iridium plug with 0.4mm electrode too.... but it was term VK-XX. In Toyota service center, they call them Iridium Tough which claim to last 100K KM mileage. Price is HIGH though...! About $28 - $30 per pcs. They said that stock just arrives since early Oct. AutoBacs is selling them too... packing is green which is directly imported from Japan. Where some local workshop is selling Blue packing . Has any one test it..? Pls advice,
Trex101 3rd Gear November 3, 2006 Share November 3, 2006 Wow, this Denso VK looks really good with best of both world, superior ignitability without sacrificing durability. But it comes at more than double the cost of normal performance iridium. $120 for a set of
Nine_eleven 2nd Gear November 3, 2006 Share November 3, 2006 best compromise between price and performance would the SK series at under $60 for 4 plugs. 0.7mm tip, full platinum plug, specced to last 100k... 0.7 may be thicker than the IK's 0.4, but it's still alot finer than the stock 1.
Trex101 3rd Gear November 3, 2006 Share November 3, 2006 One thing about platnium is it's lower ignitability when compare to iridium. That's why high boost turbo or NOS ride is not recommended to use platnium plugs.
Nine_eleven 2nd Gear November 3, 2006 Share November 3, 2006 hmm, interesting... but that still leaves 80% of cars out there able to use full plat plugs! hehe anyway, cost shouldn't come into play when u have a TC/SC or NOSed up car... the VKs will serve them well... as for the rest of us, SKs are more than enough i guess... Hattee Neutral Newbie November 3, 2006 Share November 3, 2006 Almost changeout my 40000 IK16 until realising its gap of 1.1mm is about what I read from the feeler guage for a brand new set I bought from Waterloo. Looks like Denso 30000 might be alittle conservative. Denso IK though very good in ignitability but lack the durability due to super fine centre electrode of 0.4mm were not last >40k km.
