I have noticed that recently the price of Korean cars is going on-par or even more expensive than Japanese cars. Was at Tampines Mall today which the Aveo Sedan is on display,it seems to be selling more ex than the Lancer or Sunny.Wonder whether it's still worth getting Korean rather than Jap nowadays? [rolleyes]

i have a Korean, Aveo drinks according to some friends. If i would buy now, definitely go for a Jap cos the price i pay 6 mths ago is quite Ex...can get a Jap now. but till now no regrets for my kimchi, still serves me well. But will be my last kimchi

6 mths back I think there's still a diff in price between jap & korean but now it's seems to be the other way round instead.I don't see the logic of paying more for a AVEO where

the OMV is around 11K compare to a Mits or Nissan which has a OMV OF 12K.Afterall,I'm looking at korean mainly becos of price.

No offence to any Korean car owner. [:)]

Hi Keith

I have personally test-drove the Avante. it is not bad, stable and quiet but drives a bit like an elephant (kinda floating if ya knw wat i mean). I would say that its not a very engaging ride. However I still have my sights set on it and also considering the Latio. The next thing I did was to enquire where this car (Avante, as its the 1st generation of its kind) has any problems.

check out:

I was kinda shock to see that many Avante owners have this steering problems and some even have to send back their cars back to Komoco workshop very often. The steering somehow just cant be aligned straight and always skewed to the left. A check with my frd who is driving a verna confirmed that he is also having this problem and was advised that many Hyundai cars have this problem. He told me that its a "heng" or "sway" thing if one gets a car. But I totally disagree. Taking $50K plus to try "heng" "sway" and play jackpot? I find it absurb, most impt is to do enought research 1st! I advise you to read through the forum in detail.

the new aveo looks much prettier than the previous one..IMO, the FC is the main problem...

to most singporeans..chevorlet is a better brand than korean makes..

agree that aveo is very handsome. Rear like mercedes.

Anyway, chevy also korean, just that it got mixed parentage...

But then i think chevy is less popular than kia or hyundai.

Dun think they are selling well....

First generation release always comes with bugs to fix.. just like WinXP.. I think this is not unique to hyundai or avante.. That's why i tell friends not to buy first batch of newly release models.. [;)]

There is always be some braveheart willing to try new model. [:p]

But the problem seems very serious & cannot b safe to drive.

I don't think the factory wud ever allow their cars to leave it with such faults.

Something must have been adjusted somewhere to cause the cars to pull to one side like that.

This is not a "bug". It a balrdy safety hazard. [furious]

i think the avante price is abit too steep liao....maybe komoco can try to lower the price for the avante..if nt think most buyers will go for altis or rio...

Pay 51k to buy an Aveo?Add 1.8k more can get a Latio.Don't think many ppl that brave unless he's a diehard Chevy fan. [laugh]

Just wait awhile lor.

Komoko standard practice is to intro their cars at a very high price as in most AD's cos they know Sporeans like to show off with the latest car.

After a couple of years, the price wud have dropped to a more sane level & many of the faults wud have been rectified by then.
