Ohh ....

Wah hardcore. [laugh]

There was once I was waiting for my car while doing ECU tune. Had a look at the Pfitner gearboxes brochure.

Approached my tuner to collect my car and enquired the "Retail" on the Pfitner gearbox.

He said prices start at $15,000 and above. Servicing required every 5000km by specialised mechanic in Pfitner gearboxes.

I thank him for his service and quickly left. [laugh]

Those gearboxes are hardcore. The whining noise can blow your ear drums at high rpms. [sweatdrop]

Anyway, any idea on how to rid of an 02 civic hatch ? Sell or scrape would be a better choice ?

What do you guys think ?

Manual WRX 2.5L, Auto WRX 2L and more expensive.

Is there any reason for anyone to buy an Auto Rex ? Just cos of convenience ?

But it seems the 2L have more bhp then manual.

Any comments ?

Get what you feel most comfortable. If its more powerful and having the convenience of an auto tran, why not. wink.gif

Usually the aftermarket parts for Jap cars are much cheaper and of more variety than Conti. Meanwhile in the process of selling ur existing car, u can start planning your upgrade list for your new car. laugh.gif

bro, we are talking about auto gearbox with torque convertor....this type of gearbox...is never efficient.... merc got around this problem by putting a much bigger engine inside..so even if torque convertor power lost is 25%....just put a 600++bhp engine inside..cool :)

but for the auto rex... with the torque convertor...u are already losing so much power ni it...what's the point?

If your criteria is auto and below 100k, then the auto rex would give you the most bang for buck. Other auto tc cars within your budget would be a Colt Turbo. I think it is pointless to bring in other cars that the other bros have brought up like the Golf GTI since they are either not within your budget or are manuals.

Is that the one with 4 speed gearbox with a tight cabin size or the new one?

If you want these sort of cars, better stick to manual.. Reason is simple.. Manual gear box cheap.. Can abuse like seow on track.. My clutch was worn at 25,000.. Not even a year old..

Secondly, can train lots of technique on a manual shift..

My personal view....

Plus points of the Auto WRX

1) Has all the attribute of a WRX. 4WD boxer turbo engine.

2) The new EJ20 engine has AVCS (Subaru speak for variable valve timing)

3) Responsive engine (after all, its a small turbo only)

4) 2 shifter convienece. Manual "steptronic" avaliable.

5) Better euipment over the manual Euro 2.5L Rex. (eg climatic aircon vs manual aircon...optrion vs normal meters)

6) Power is higher as its a JDM. 250bhp 333Nm vs 230bhp

Minus points of a Auto WRX

1) Less fun to drive (but still the Auto Rex is a nice car to drive)

2) Automatic is a 4 speeder only. Ratio a bit space out for out and out accleration.

3) Cannot launch

If you ask me....if you are not going for modification of up to 400bhp and above, the Auto Rex makes sense in SG roads. The torque is very usable coming in at full 333Nm avaliable at 3600rpm. 4 doors makes it a good choice for a small family.

So if you ain't gonna modifiy your car too much, the Auto Rex makes very good sense. Anyway...the 2.5L euro spec ain't much of a fire breather anyway. In short, you dun lose much between the EJ20 and EJ25.

If I'm not wrong, this is a Jap car brand that FL or change look every now and then...I guess, they can't decide what they want their cars to look like. Even car mag critics also commented that they are strong in brute force but lack fares in look in their past WRX production.
