Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2006 Share October 11, 2006 (edited) No prizes for guessing who one first place. Vredestein Sportrac 3. [inline 364.jpg] Here are the rankings. 1st: Vredestein Sportrac 3 2nd: Continental 3rd: Marshal 4th: Bridgestone 5th: Goodyear 6th: Pirelli 7th: Dunlop 8th: Yokohama C.Drive 9th: Avon 10th: Hankook 11th: Maxxis 12th: Marangoni 13th: Toyo 14th: Matador 15th: Michelin Tyre size tested is 195/65-R15 I have no idea which Continental model. Got to buy the Autoexpress mag or wait for the dennisk ftp to load it up. Looks like C.Drive has the value here. Hankook went up several notches from last year to reach 10th place with Maxxis close behind. Michelin right at the bottom. And who the hell is Marshal anyway? When can we even get Vredestein here? Got it from Tire Review Online. Edited October 11, 2006 by Genie47 ↡ Advertisement

Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2006 Author Share October 11, 2006 Nope. Unlike Car and Driver, they standardize the tire profile and size instead of speed rating or something. They did mention it is a numbers game. I like the way they standardize to make it equal among all the tires and let their thread and compounds come in as the variable. Of course these influence the speed rating.
Boyboy 1st Gear October 11, 2006 Share October 11, 2006 i distinctly remember a similar tyre test in which the hankook optimo K406 came in near bottom why i remember? my dad was using those tyres before...
Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2006 Author Share October 11, 2006 (edited) K406 is bad in the wet but good on rolling resistance. Save fuel. Oh yes, I forgot about the price comparison. It actually compares not just the tire price but also its rolling resistance AKA ability to save even more money. The Marshal seems good since it performs and saves. Who the hell is Marshal anyway!? Bwahahaha.....the concluding comments on the Michelin Pilot Premacy...."Its being replaced And not a moment too soon." Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2006 Author Share October 11, 2006 Thanks for the heads up on Marshal. Hmmm....Marshal is Kumho's budget brand? I mean Kumho so budget already and Marshal is even more budget!

Toalson 1st Gear October 11, 2006 Share October 11, 2006 Damn... if only CPC2 is cheaper here. This test seemed to be for the normal daily driving aka comfort bias tyres.
Genie47 1st Gear October 11, 2006 Author Share October 11, 2006 Which most of those out there would want to have. So often I hear of "noisy tire" complaints. The tire size also give hints of comfort tire.

Kelpie 2nd Gear December 26, 2007 Share December 26, 2007 Unlike us, the Europeans go for value. The problem is this review is a mix of comfort bias tyres with performance based tyres, so funny one . If want to compare, it should be performance against performance or comfort against comfort. Regards, ↡ Advertisement
