Hi all!

Just to check, have anyone thought of mixing the different grades of petrol eg. Shell 98 with Shell 95?

I was at my mech yesterday and met this guy who is supposedly an engine oil expert and supplier... He'd posed me this question if I had thought of mixing the different grade of petrol...

I then asked him what is the benefits of mixing it and he said that it'll give good FC and millege...

So wonder if anyone knows the answer or have an answer to it... According to him, he says it does and is good... On his Euro Accord that he drives lah.. Also he said that putting Superione cause the cam and valve to be damaged due to leaner air... Any idea if it's true?

Fortress is the expert on this...he has an explanation.

Apparently diff grades have diff properties, ie, one for power, one for mileage...so mixing is advantageous...let Fortress come in and eggsplainlaugh.giflaugh.gif

1st time im hearing leaner air (leaner mix) can cause damage. i suspect it has more to do with superione filtering of the air being sucked into the engine. it uses sponge and no write-up has ever been done on how good/bad it is. in general, sponge is the worst of the lot in filtering when compared to paper, cotton, mesh. when you allow more air, you gotta ask urself, there does the air comes from, is it clean, is it good (hot or cold air, etc).

Hi there,

Thanks so do you reckon if there can be a replacement or alternative filter material to use on the Superione then?

Yes it's only sponge and apparently it needs to be cleaned once every 10000KM using warm water. However I'd not done it yet cuz should I stick tissue into the opening when I remove the sponge or to leave it as is while i take the sponge upstairs to be cleaned?

Hehehehe...
