im not sure if you can 're-map' your current ECU.. might still need a piggy back or a new ECU.. but consider those only if you're gonna hardcore tune your ride.. [;)]

not sure if f con can do the job.

But i know certainly that unichip + turbo module certainly is able to do the job. You may wants to double check on this if it works on forrestor with the local distributor, or if u frequent JB, u can go ask visworks on this. Do note that MY has NO subaru cars

Boost cut is when your ECU detects the car is overboosting or is in danger of running at the factory stipulated boost levels due to any reasons.

Perhaps what you mean is setting of boost levels ? If so, EBC is the way to go. They hold boost relatively well with an aftermarket solenoid.

However I would recommend aftermarket ECU in any forms + solenoid. If your turbo is small, which I think it is on the forrester, forget the solenoid and use ECU to control boost.

if u wanna use back ur stock 32bit ecu(though i would strongly suggest u use a stand alone) .then i would suggest the ecutek.using back ur own ecu paying for tunning and mapping and of cos license.

think around 1.7k+ .

not sure.check with ah boon?

For ECU there are 3 types

1) Reflash - A software that you install into the stock ECU.

2) Piggyback - An addition unit to the stock ECU. (Eg. Unichip. A unit in which you wire to the stock ECU

3) Standalone - Full replacement of stock ECU. (Take out stock and replace with an aftermarket)

Ecutek is a reflash software. Once you install Ecutek, the only way to sell it is to do a 1 to 1 swap of ECU with buyer.

Problem is that it is not so simple. Even for a same make year and model, you can have several variations in the type of ECU. For eg. the pins doesn't fit.

Once ecutek is installed, you kiss away .

Does forrester run on TD04 or something else ?

Last time I sold my VF22 to another rex driver he set his boost to 1.5bar without ECU retune. (stock internals)

The next day he saw a pool of engine oil. Turbo KIA and Engine KIA.

The turbo was only 6 hrs old in his hands.

Some things to take note when pumping up boost levels is noting the size of your turbo. For eg a TD04 (WRX turbo), the efficiency range of the turbo is not that great mainly due to its size. Anything more than 1.1 bar on a TD04, and your really not making any more power and in fact kills the turbo and you are overworking it.

When the boost levels are out of its efficiency range, anything above that boost level means more hot air is going in. This can shown very clearly on a dyno sheet if you do a comparison where you see your peak torque drops drastically to earlier RPM range.
