Firstcall Clutched September 28, 2006 Share September 28, 2006 finally a senior Jap exec that is honest. "Also, we are reviewing our allocation of resources,' he said, referring, in particular, to outsourcing. 'Some of these outside resources are not used to the Toyota way.' " referring to Thailand??? now, so my friend who told me what his frend saw in Thai factory is true. so much so that he decided not to buy the thai made Camry... ↡ Advertisement
Firstcall Clutched September 28, 2006 Share September 28, 2006 Quote 'Before Hyundai made the new Sonata, it studied the previous Camry closely. But before we made the new Camry, we studied the new Sonata closely. On the surface, the quality of the two cars looks very similar. But deep down, the Camry has better durability,' he said. there... I knew it... just look at the dashboard of Sonata... it is obviously trying to copy the dashboard architecture of the old Camry. Frankly I find that the worst part about Camry, cheap and bland, why they go and copy silly. should have copied Accord's. ah...wait that's why...so that they can produce cheap interior and yet people will still buy bcos it resembles the old Camry. Fourwheels Clutched September 28, 2006 Share September 28, 2006 (edited) Quote well, i have been telling fellow MCFers here tat toyota making cars in thailand, quality will definitely suffer coz of the origins of those smaller parts to fix into the car... some MCFers still not convinced that quality will suffer and insist tat toyota will ensure quality is still the same as made in japan cars........ with this statement from chief engineer, they should now LL, and accept wat i have said 2 months ago. in any business operations, going globally and having outsourced productions or service, quality can NEVER be the same! simple example like franchised fast food outlets, taste is never the same as the original food. franchised outlets would have to use local ingredients to make the food, how can it be the same quality as originals? so now, those so-called 'die-hard' fans, you can LL and just accept this lowered quality thai-made cars...... and you are paying with made-in-japan prices..... fyi, recent toyota recall are from the made in japan vehicle and not those more thailand. Nine_eleven 2nd Gear September 28, 2006 Share September 28, 2006 to be fair... certain south african made continental brands also suffer from quality problems... and the manufacturer isn't out here admitting there's a problem...

Tanjkp Clutched September 28, 2006 Share September 28, 2006 fyi, recent toyota recall are from the made in japan vehicle and not those more thailand. But they didn't explain why the recalled part failed. As a lot of parts of these Jap assembled units came from 3rd world or developing countries. Veryfree Clutched September 29, 2006 Share September 29, 2006 Guess that Toyota CEOs are reaping the profit, and passed only tibits to employees as bonus. Thai workers may get even lower. Without much morale, Toyota engineers may lose zest to build better cars. Toyota jap made are also no big deal, try comparing with other makes in Japan, especially Nissan, Mazda, Toyo cars look so bland in design
Fourwheels Clutched September 29, 2006 Share September 29, 2006 well, i don't disagree but you are mentioning the those made is thai car has quality issue.

Nkps 1st Gear September 30, 2006 Share September 30, 2006 (edited) 'like Merced** Ben* and B*W?' this means that any car make and model which OUTSOURCED to other country bound to have quality problem!!! similar to your TOYOTA VIOS!!! get it??? and this is what some brother here try to put accross... inlinesix Hypersonic October 2, 2006 Share October 2, 2006 I m neither die-hard fan nor anti-Toyota. Well, what do u expect from a car (Vios) with OMV of $11-12k? On the other hand, we hav a small mkt here. Population = 4m. No. of car = 400k. On the other hand, Toyota pricing is determined by Toyota Motor Asia Pacific. So, if there is problem with QC or Price, juz write 2 them or directly 2 Toyota Motor Corp. Don't wind here. It does not solve the problem.
Nkps 1st Gear October 2, 2006 Share October 2, 2006 WIND here will not stop the problem! YES i agree! FULLY agree! even how much MCF-er wind here also no use... but if no one voice anything about bus/ mrt/ taxi fare hike, govement will not bother to control their increament. perhaps today the taxi fare flag down price is $5.00 instead of $2.50. if one day no one want to buy a TOYOTA anymore, do you think toyota will drop their price? if really one day no one buy toyota anymore, isnt it a wind? we all know jolly well that no matter what we say in this forum, is still our opinion only, take it or leave it, if everyone say nothing, why do we need the forum for?
